His motive (money, love, adulation etc) is irrelevant ...he's 53, looks washed, doesn't put up good matches, is wincing in pain after chokeslams, is reportedly in pain and may need surgery....if that isn't hanging on too long I don't know what is....

To make it clear, he's obviously hung around too long....clearly YEARS past his prime. Any person can see that. BUT my point is, it's not really an issue when he only fights ONCE a year or so. It's not like he's doing a Ric Flair, where he retires and comes back b/c he needs money.

He's an attraction if for nothing else than just his entrance being a spectacle.

Undertaker and Wrestlemania are synonymous. And given his character, he can't really be an on-screen talent in any other form other than fighting.

They've said this for so long now. AT LEAST since 28, I think there was some talk about double retirement after 26 also. This would make sense as a retirement point, but if the match is good then it's hard to turn down a big mo ey match with Cena next year that would probably also turn out good.

It's sad that he became the broken down vet that stuck around way too long that he said he didn't want to become.

I don't see it, brother. He hasn't really had that "wow, he looks terrible" match yet. Just 2 years ago he had 2 great matches with Brock. Last year his match was probably the selling point of WM and it told its story.

His direct quote was "I don't want to be the guy that people tell their kids he's good now, but you should have seen him back then."

That pretty much describes Taker's career now. He's become the guy he didn't want to be.

Dude been getting like one match per year(maybe a handful of matches every few years). No excuses.:vincegetouttahere:

Dude is washed. He can't get around the ring well & he doesn't even look like hit the gym.:flabbynsick::flabbynsick::flabbynsick:

At least you could say it looked like hogan, sting, scott steiner, Nash, & flair still hit the gym when they were wrestling in their 50s.:yeshrug:

Stephanie accidentally hinted that the match with Roman was a retirement match on the Cheap Heat podcast so it maybe possible this time.

I think its a see how it goes thing. He probably should have retired before, but I also think his 2015 return was a bit better than expected. I was watching his Mania 31 match and he actually looked good and walked the ropes and his matches with Brock at Summerslam 2015 an Hell int he Cell were solid. So I dont know if it was as obvious as Flair hanging on but I do agree after Rumble 2017 he can't hide it anymore so maybe its time.
