North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
City/metropolitan vs. Midwest/rual.

One is about technology and advancing.
One is stuck in a different era and don't know how to adapt. Don't really want to adapt.

Climate change in New York is looked at different to someone in Nebraska because rising sea levels wont affect them. Technology means jack shyt to a town with one traffic light and 2 police officers.

This country is beyond disconnected. There are so many cultures and sub-cultures that the masses will never be unified.

And what is with cac's infatuation with manufacturing jobs. You watch movies like Rudy and All The Right Moves, young people in small towns loathed working in a factory. In 8 Mile Eminem and all of his employees hated working in a factory. Working at a factory is something you did after you graduated high school and either didn't want to go to college or couldn't go. And before those jobs got shipped overseas what makes people think most of those jobs were not going to be replaced by robots.

Baby Boomers only want it one way. They don't care about 30 years from now because all of them will be dead. Donald Trump will literally be dead within the next 30 years (unless he lives to see 100 years old). They're all selfish.

People in metropolitan areas live in a bubble as well. "Rural" to them is having TV with no cable. Both sides live life with tunnel vision.

You forgot to mention the fact that people in urban areas often live in close proximity to people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds. :mjpls:

Which is why I referenced the bubble term. It's a cultural divide.

People living on a farm in Wisconsin aren't affected by immigration or terrorism. They only go by what they see on TV.
At the same time you have both sides that have lived all their lives having never been out side of their respective states (some having never left their own city limits for an extended period).

There are too many cultures and subcultures. At the end of the day, the diversity that makes this country unique is a gift and a curse.

Which is why the fukking rest belt crowd would NEVER be allowed to dictate policy for an entire nation, they aren't intelligent, experienced, or educated enough....I can understand their lives, and problems, they cannot imagine living and existing in a place like NYC, or LA, even San Diego. They don't care about anyone but themselves, and those similar, they don't even fukking KNOW anyone different

this cuts much deeper into people's psyches than I think is being talked about on any meaningful level

Caught three morbidly obese white people on CNN from a small-town-USA being interviewed in a cafe complaining about not getting their fair share. There is so much slothfulness in these people. Ignorance has become a virtue in many ways. That's why this was always going to get worse before it got better. When you embrace ignorance the only thing to do is ride the wave of wind out to its bitter consequences

literally the only good that could ever come from Trump is revealing people's ingrained ignorance and prejudices to themselves

a guy who thinks homosexuality is a choice is heading his transition team for domestic policy

bottom line I been saying the rust belt had 30 fukking years to adapt. Yes, I feel for them or did but not anymore. It's terrible that they lost their jobs but that was a long time ago and a long time coming. They should have sent their kids to college instead of depending on the plant to provide for the grandparents, the parents, the children, their children, etc..

Go learn a different trade or go to college, do SOMETHING. They didn't have it half as bad as inner city kids with shytty education and poor neighborhoods go through.

They had time to change and adapt and chose not to. Now they're crying. fukk em
