I can tell you from personal experience it doesn't work like that. My ex wasn't fat when we started dating but VERY nerdy. After we was together for a while she started changing her look up. Dropped the glasses, started doing her hair different, changed how she dressed to accentuate her curves and became downright sexy. Even people that knew us for a while saw her dressed up and was telling me "damn I had no idea she had that in her".

All that attention got to her head big time and became the party girl like others have pointed out. Eventually she got tired of the attention but it took a few years.

Thanks for the anecdotal evidence, what nationality was the girl you were referring to in your example? what was her upbringing like? I think she will only leave him if she superficial/vain and isn't satisfied with the relationship.

How do you know if her current boyfriend isn't a Med Student, Lawyer, etc... and isn't on track to becoming successful in the near future? wouldn't he be considered a catch as well?
