There was nothing like it. For any news, game reviews, interviews, you went to G4 before IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, any of the rest. One of the first to hop on the internet being content and sharing viral clips along with going viral themselves. They actually knew wtf they were talking about when it came to games, consoles, cameras, anything electronics. G4 ahead of the curve on so much shyt

IIRC it turned to shyt when the new parent company started cutting budget on original content & on screen talent, that's how it ended up being a network of Cops & Jamie Kennedy Experience reruns. They were going after the "male lifestyle" demographic like SpikeTV with video games sprinkled in instead of being tech first.

Up until then G4 was the shyt. And yes, I'm 100% sure back then G4 was accepting MS checks just like everyone else. Still, nothing was like it and apparently they'll never be anything like it again even though certain YT channels pretty much do what they did. So it could easily happen, it just hasn't.

TechTV then G4 before it got bought out was like paradise man. Before YouTube twitch etc we had that. Their E3 coverage always got me hyped.

This was 20+ years ago. This isn't the tech and nerd culture of today where everyone is into phones and anime. Back then tech girls were those Rebel Wilson looking types. Morgan Webb being.....not THAT and knowing her shyt made her a damned unicorn. Fast forward to the mid 2010s and beyond the landscape changed. Now PORNSTARS are making a bank playing Call of Duty.

Nah, it was dogshyt. I was working in games in 2021-2022. There is not ONE person that's even anywhere close to gaming that said Sony needed to "get their act together in 2022"
PS4 was one of the best selling consoles of ALL TIME by that point and Starfield was on its way to being delayed again. The take is so removed from what was actually happening that it bordered on satire. I truly cannot tell if she was joking or not. This was like sayin "I think Shohei is gonna be awful this year, I mean, he really needs to get his act together".

Now does anyone deserve to be harassed for that? Nope.

The G4 reboot was ass because it was still trying to market to a millennial audience when to be honest, there were already better products and commentators out there. They thought they were the Nickelodeon of games when they didn't even have a fraction of the nostalgia and only a few people with the talent AND journalistic chops to do the work.
