Even more egregious is the assertion that lloyd banks dusty sounding monotone ass "improved" one of the greatest everyman pharcyde tracks of all time. Are you retarded?

By that logic, The Message was a superior song to Check Yo Self. And we know for a fact which song fukking killed it and which sounded obsolete just 3 years later

I wish you could understand the point I was trying to make. It's not that I don't like those old school rap songs anymore, they will always have a place to me because they made me who I am today. I just prefer the newer versions over them because they've taken songs I already held in high prestige and expanded on them to bring an entire new dimension to their music that I never saw possible. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that

I dont fukk with Tribe at all, never have....but Kanye makes much worse shyt than them.

I'm a huge ATCQ fan and I'm going to be 100% honest. Kanye's version is a fukking masterpiece. Let's not forget, he was making amazing ass music in the late 90s and early 2000s. It's completely fine for other people to prefer the older music, but that doesn't make it ok for them to ignore the gem that Kanye made. Not to mention, Consequence was surprisingly good in that song. Kanye deserves much more credit than he's gotten in this thread so far because that was one of the best all-around efforts I've ever seen by him

This thread is exactly how Complex writers think.

"I used to be a back packer too (cuz I downloaded 15 well known albums and listened to them for 6 months), but its 2016 and these new rappers are just so much more advanced."

You have to realize subject matter in rap music has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. I just don't care for the things that a good amount of old rappers talk about anymore. I don't see what's wrong with that

And Passing Me By is your example? You don't care about Pharcyde rapping about being insecure adolescents but you care about Lloyd Banks' money and guns...Ok sure, if u say so.

I like the Banks freestyle too. He killed it. But it's just a freestyle, there are a million just like it.

This is actually one of the more respectable responses I've received in here so far. I won't argue with this. I will say though I think there was a bit more to Lloyd's freestyle than just guns and money
