Denzel got more varied roles, c'mon man.
Just because he's been successful doesn't mean his roles are varied. Him and Tom cruise were both willing to try different accents early in their careers and then immediately gave that up after becoming A listers. They are never not the smartest, most cunning character in their films, They not taking any Forest Gump type roles. Rarely step out their comfort genre's either, you not seeing Denzel in a ton of Comedies, he not starring in any Coming to America type films, or shooting eye beams in a superhero films. Not doing any family friendly films either. They have a lane

People don't want to admit it, but Denzel and Tom Cruise are also guilty of this.
Nothing wrong with finding a lane and staying in it.

I avoided a lot of Denzel movies when I was younger because of this. He is just him. But in my old age I’ve realized that him being him works 90% of the time.

One of the reasons I’m interested in gladiator II

People don't go to a Denzel or Tom (any one), Will Smiff, Eddie Murphy etc. movie to see skills and range, they go to see that person. It's their looks and charisma that people pay to see. They happen to have the skills too but that ain't what got people coming to the theater :manny:.
