So what were they supposed to do? Pay him and essentially pay for two James Hardens because of the luxury tax?

Because a player does good on another team doesn't mean its ether to the team that let him go. Its only Ether if the team ends up sucking or if they get knocked out of the post season by the other team.

OKC made the right move, you get a 6th man whose contract is expiring and a cheap young SG w/ potential. Keep in mind, The Thunder may fukk around and get a lotto pick as well along w/ another 1st rounder. Sure Harden's playmaking will be hard to replace, but they straight on the scoring front, and they got substantially better long term.

i agree

part of me feels "u have 3 star players...they are ALL young...keep them together"

but they obviously didnt want to max out Harden, and im ok with not maxing out a 6th man., and using that money elsewhere to build around ure 2 stars, and signing ure Center

Thunder are playing Chess, not Checkers

If you are a small market team like OKC with 3 of the top 15/20 players on your roster all YOUNG and NOT YET IN THIER PRIME you DON'T break that up that early.

Now KD is gone, and Russy will most likely leave after this season.

This trade was the Start of the ending for them.

All because they wanted to be "Smart Dumb" and CHEAP.

After Russ leaves they are gonna be bottom feeders for a long time....

Yeah, they realised that they lost 10 games into Harden's games with houston. We all knew what his potential was. With him on the squad, they wouldnt have missed a heartbeat when Russ and or KD got injured and would have easily beaten the Spurs in 2013, 2014 and Golden State in 2015 and this year. It really should have been a Lebron vs. The Thunder show the last 4 years but they threw that away for a bag of beans. They are about to lose everything they had now.

Hmm did they? Would of had 3 top 10 players on one squad
