Answer is no, because while it's obviously not impossible, it's just as obvious as to why older heads tend to prefer older music. You're more apt to appreciate what you grew up with. Part of it is simply just being stuck in the past, mainly your prime years, and by no means is that necessarily a bad thing. Same reason why people who grew up during Wilt Chamberlain's heyday might think he's the goat, while a much younger crowd prefers Jordan. My parents still bumpin shyt from their generation:flabbynsick:

naw, we as older hip hop fans aren't incapable of recognizin' dope new shyt but with age and the older we get and the more things change, we might be a lil jaded to what is new if it's completely different from what we came up on

but with that said, if it really is dope, good or great, then it shines through and anyone can recognized that if that said genre of music is what they really like and are into listenin' to still

great thread @SirBiatch

Solid list minus Cold Vein. I can't stand El-P's production. Him and his throw some pots and pans down the stairs production.

So are all old-head naysayers of hip hop trapped in nostalgia?
Most are. I get so sick of if Big & Pac were alive. When Big & Pac were alive they weren't that revered as rappers. And for those who say they were they still had the likes of Snow, Coolio, Skee-Lo, 95 South, Tag Team, Kris Kross, Da Brat, Master P, Warren G (Great Producer, Great Debut, but rhymes were ABC as fukk), being chart toppers.

Hip hop went pop when it hit the radio....

These n!ggaz had R&B features, TV spots, magazines, national airplay
news coverage and all while selling millions of records....

There was still money in music so a lot of older fans will remain jaded...

The fact we can share this platform to discuss/dismiss other periods in

music is a testament of how far ...technology and music has evolved.

Everything is different now. The fashion, the tech, the content, the production
the slang,

and your fave rappers from yesteryear are droppin duds so you can
move on to other genres or keep being stuck in.....

that list is horrible as an "essential" Hip Hop albums list. at the very least if i made an essential list i would have ONE classic album from each region to provide some different styles for the reader/listener and then have the rest of the list be a more personal choice of "essential" depending on my feelings.

I'm just downloading it now cuz I have no idea why I haven't listened to a 90s east coast album that's on the same list as those classics.
