The vast majority of white liberals don’t care that much about black issues outside of Twitter posts. But sometimes their interests intersect with ours. That’s the way I look at it.

I wouldn't cast the net as large as "most", but I have seen what you are talking about. I can't tell you anything different than what you have experienced personally, and I obviously think that there is alot of work to do. Our politicians need to held accountable, and if they are not, then we have more Donald Trump's. With the groundswell of grass roots orgs, and local activism, I think we can really make a difference now and in the future. We need to organize, and attack civil issues starting at the local level, and then we can move upward on onward. I am a bleeding heart liberal, and I agree, virtue signaling just to win votes will do more damage for the future than anything.

A lot of black people suffer from this desperate need to believe in the possibility of America being their home and a place in which we can thrive and coexist among the people who stripped us of our identity and enslaved our ancestors in a system of genocidal labor. I mean, black people are really dancing and celebrating over a few meaningless victories in a system that was created by the people who stole our ancestors and enslaved them. I just can't grasp the delusions some black people feed themselves to keep their sanity.

Look, I am not one of those people that think nothing positive happened for black people under Obama, but that was in spite of the rabid anti-black hostility directed towards his presidency and the black people who made it possible for that to happen. However, looking at the black community from a macroeconomic level, the black community has suffered under all presidents - Democrat and Republican. There is no observable difference in the condition of our community, with respect to the growth of wealth, between Obama/Clinton and Bush/Trumo. The only distinction is that Trump has emboldened all the dormant white supremacists to take their masks off and is now accelerating the white supremacist agenda against the black community.
