America’s Thanksgiving is uniquely American .Thanksgiving isn't even uniquely American, as the custom of having large feasts to celebrate gratitude is pretty common among most cultures. The origin of American Thanksgiving is more myth than fact.
Should I celebrate every country’s Independence Day on Nigeria’s Independence Day since many other countries have an Independence Day? Like how people try to do Juneteenth which is Black American Independence Day? & like they do Black history month?
If I’m in Mexico celebrating dia de Los muertos by trying to go trick or treating, am I celebrating dia de Los muertos? Or am I disrespecting their day of celebrating their dead by inserting my American culture trying to go trick or treating?
If I’m in another country and their holiday revolves around eating their National/traditional dish but I decide to eat a hamburger with fries, how am I celebrating that holiday? And if you say I’m not then how is it ok/respectful for me to claim I am celebrating it?
If you have been to other countries and haven’t participated in their culture/ethnic holidays, the right/authentic and respectful way, then your travels were pointlessI’m Black American - although I have the privilege of travelling across the globe due to work. You’re just an insufferable twitter type and this reply further accentuates that - just loud and wrong and reaching for the most accessible buzz word/talking point without fact checking. Insufferable![]()
& I have never had a Twitter account so it doesn’t make sense for you to keep trying to claim that.
...you can celebrate any holiday however the hell you want. Nobody cares. You think people are gonna protest what you do on your own damn time?? These are not laws. I can't even begin to understand how feel disrespected over what people cook in their own fukking house. Do you think they're gonna break into your home and make you eat their food?
are u serious ?
yall nikkaz …. u can eat whatever non American food u want - just be respectful & NOT call it ‘
