Immigrants/Foreigners "strongly" identifying with Blackness is a new thing. Honestly, I wish they would stick to "I'm not Black, I'm (insert random African nationality or tribe)". We all know Black/Negro has been the primary identifier for the descedants of trans-atlantic slavery and has been defined in modern day by Black American Experience. In Africa most countries are homogeneously "Black", so they don't have to identify with it. Even when they travel out they are mostly identified as African or respective nationality not Black, ergo the "African-American" is THE Black Man.
