In this country as a black females we already got two strikes against us from the jump, Our lives are much much more difficult and miserable when we have children during our teenage years, not furthering our education. There is no fukkin excuse to be living in a country with endless opportunities, for these females to be in these unfortunate predicaments. That's why it's really hard for me to feel sorry for them.....This is the life THEY CHOOSE!

At the rate she works, she'd have to be paid $42 an hour just to make $35K a year. (which would definitely be a problem as I make that much an hour with 2 degrees and 10+ years of experience)

The true enemy here are the government handouts available to make sure that poor Black women like her and her sister are riding the perpetual hamster wheel. Worse yet the cultural trap which has her believing that as long as her son has J's and she has an IPhone. She's doing ok. It's rather disturbing that the bulk of her income is based on subsidized government hand outs. But even with that her income is still will below the poverty line in most states. What really needs to happen is that independent organization in inner cities need to set up shop using school gyms and YMCA and provide life coaching and home economics. I understand this woman had a child with a less than responsible man, but maybe instead of trying to pick apart her twitter and making her the face of every poor Black woman, we should looker more closely at the conditions which allowed such a mind state to fester. The one thing she has going for her is that (and I could be wrong) is that she has few if any outstanding debt, and as a result she can probably make a move to the south or somewhere where the cost of living is lower But I find it odd how judgmental some of you are when a good portion of you posters came from poverty and single parent homes. Yes she made some bad choices, but I hope she can find a way out the matrix but I don't see it based on her trajectory and poisoned mindstate.

What you just said here to me is a microcosm of 1 of the things wrong with the black community.
Sure this woman made mistakes in her life, haven't we all? The real issue is what are the conditions that allowed this situation to come about. There's plenty more young single black mothers like her. nikkas want to talk about Black Unity and helping the community out, but once they see a black person who fukked up in life or who's not on their social or financial level, they become ruthless slurring out things like: dumb bytch, shouldn't have had kids, etc. That could've been a lot of yall's mothers. I'm not saying we should all sit around and cry for her situation, but instead of placing all the blame on her, let's look at the big picture and what can be done to stop so many of our young black women going through the same thing.
