Macklemore is a master lyricist and an extremely gifted poet. Every song ive heard from him has a powerful message attached. Thats the root of hiphop. He's using his talent and influence/platform to uplift, motivate and inspire the listeners. Something rarely done by black rappers today. OP is correct in his assessment.
