PAC is on Rushmore .

You nikkas look and sound insane right now .

He is more relevant to the younger kids than Nas and Jay and he’s been dead for 30 years .

No other rapper from back then compares

He’s not in my personal top 5 but we just talking hip hop as a whole and removing biases and whatever it’s laughable to leave him off for damn near anyone

Again, this isn't neccesrily about accolades, bodies of work, impact, preferance....all of that can be factored in AFTER you think about the Narrative.

There are certain MC's that are foundational and architechs, I have no qualms about anybody still holding Rakim as a top 5 MC though I understand that the longer we go, the more those guys simply become apart of the foundation and seemingly less noteworthy.

The reason why Jay/Nas and their contemporaries dominate that top 5 is because they bridge the gap.

You CANNOT tell Jay-Z, Nas or Eminem's story without Rakim and his ilk....

You CANNOT tell Kendrick Lamar's story without 2pac, Jay. Nas or Eminem, they're baked into that greatness for a reason.

That is why those types are Mt. Rusmore status 'objectively', not because of awards or numbers, but because highlighting them maintains the connection, the history from the foundation to the present day. Continuity.

Kendrick has the light now, he's becoming more and more noteworthy as we go, streams, sales, awards aside, he's global phenomon based off his pen. Even if you wanna attribute it to bots or the machine, it's all predicated on the RAP.

Thread the other day you had kids trying rewrite history they wasn't there for and ignore those that built the foundation.

Hip hop was nowhere near the most popular music genre in the early 90s, but it was by the time Drake and Kendrick dropped their debuts. And too many of these dudes want to delete the accomplishments of those artists that took it to the top.

Every adult knows Tupac and Biggie don't belong in any top 5 list
Especially Biggie with those 2 albums

If you only have slots for 5 rappers to talk about to encapsulate the history of the culture overall, it stops being about preferance, it's about who are the most important figures to fill in the gaps of the conversation.

There is no MC more noteworthy than 2pac Shakur. Regardless of how you feel about him, that is undeniable.

Even for the prisoner of the moment ass nikkas who think Kendrick's run has catapaulted him beyond any and everything can rewind the tape and see Pac's shadow looming over the event, tell me I'm lying.

The fact that Drake used an AI 2pac to diss Kendrick makes this post hit even harder.

The Biggie and Tupac disrespect in this thread is hilarious.

These nikkas created Ready to Die, Life After Death, 7 Day Theory, Me Against The World, All Eyez On Me etc.

Which is better and more iconic than 99.5% of albums in history.

I'd say it's the opposite. Everyone in my graduating class from high school would laugh at you if you tried to say Pac wasn't top 5.
Then they have underdeveloped brains
Not a knock on those two's impact in the culture when I say they don't belong on the top 5 list
But speaking on impact in the culture, one can make a case for Rakim, Eminem, Black Thought and Big Pun just the same
Then it becomes a matter of taste and preference

I used to have em on my top 5 and you couldn't tell me shyt...but then I grew up
