If we are being honest , letting them out as senior citizens is fair. It's pretty excessive to keep an 80yr old who has been in prison since dr king was doing bus boycotts, in jail in 2024
From a public safety standpoint , he is incredibly unlikely to do it again. From a deterrent standpoint, I think it's silly to keep a senior citizen in prison cause no matter how long these old dudes are in prison , there will always be a conveyor belt of teenagers and 20somethings following in their footsteps.

It's not hard to not commit 1st degree murder
If you do it at a young age, then maybe you can get out after multiple decades, when you're a senior citizen because you've probably mellowed out. But otherwise, how do we know you've changed?

That and I don’t trust the government to have that power. Better they languish in prison, and let’s be honest most of the people on death row who get their convictions overturned are black men, can’t undo an execution like you can do a prison sentence.
