I put Drake above Cole, but I can't co-sign Drake being "more" lyrical.
Drake to me has better flows, song-writing and is more creative with his songs/albums.

While Cole has better stories, wordplay and lyricism.
I'm not gonna talk about substance, cause I'm not a Nas stan and substance is overly objective to judge on who's got the best.
I will say that Cole has a unique feature in that he's probably got the most average 0-25 years of any rapper, therefore he can tackle most average subjects better than any new rapper.

And Kendrick is probably both those dudes rolled in one.

Dude, Cole is just not that nice. I rarely hear a track and think "yeah, Cole ripped that."

Where's the lyricism, word play? Please show me. He has good rhyming basics, good voice, flow but there's nothing in him that makes him lyrically better than a Loso, in fact he's inferior lyrically.

Name me some respected MC's you think he's better than.

Even Nas and Jay have wack lines or more speciifically someone like Eminem has loads of them. That's what happen if you do 200 one liners obviously 4-5 will be bad, no matter ho dope you are. But only losers focus on the 4-5 instead of the 195-196 dope ones. And that line was meant to make you laugh, not say "whoo what a lyrical rapper". It's like saying "A really dope rapper would never drop a song like You owe me or We off that". Not even Cole has dropped as wack joints.

Yeah, but did Nas, Hov or Eminem have those kinda bars on Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt or Slim Shady LP/Infinite? They didn't, right? Of course over time after making hundreds of songs, you're going to get lines like "Had nikkas mad for real like "I wish he was gay" cause they knew sooner or later hun was gettin with Jay" but J. Cole barely has 100 records, let alone 100 album records.

I agree. I think it's because for the last couple years the bar had been seriously lowers with all that snap stuff, that a decent rapper like Cole would be seen as super lyrical. I wouldn't even say that about Kendrick, he just has a very interesting delivery/voice and can switch his flows up like crazy.

Monster lyricists are guys like Killer Priest, Lupe, Nas, Jay etc.

I mean, yeah, if you want that type of lyricism with a lot of double and triple entendres, Kendrick ain't at their level yet, but if you look beyond that, if you look at substance, consistency (in terms of song making, he doesn't make a song about... let's say drugs and then starts talking about the club out of nowhere because he ran out of rhymes) and his rhyme skills, I think he's damm near the Nas, Hov, Killa Priest, Lupe, MF Doom level. Especially if he really tried to rap that way.
