Desantis ain’t gon be president
Kind of feel the same way (not taking it for granted though, can't be complacent).
Dude don't have the "name" Trump did for the ultra casual voters/foreigners. Hard conservatives are championing him, but not the casual voter. Immigrants were talking about Trump because they knew the name internationally and some countries/states got those buildings built in them, but not DeSantis. DeSantis is more the local guy with some momentum but not on the level of that Trump Train onslaught getting cosigns from other world leaders who have personally shook his hand in numerous photo ops going back decades.
The guy will probably win the Republican primaries, but I don't think he's dropping Biden on the big stage. Biden being practically mentioned in the same sentence as Trump alone for all these years kind of solidified his name/reputation to casuals and as the boogeyman to conservatives which is exponentially more rep than what DeSantis got. People thought the "Brandon" thing was doing damage, but that's
branding as was shown by how the Dark Brandon thing flipped the script effortlessly.
Additionally, because of his policies, the more DeSantis gets mentioned the more it paints him as a straight lunatic which the casual voter may not gravitate towards. Yeah Trump looked insane too, but many thought dude was harmless and a "lighthearted entertainer".
They talking like DeSantis is Trump, but nah dude is really mid in terms of branding and recognizability in comparison. It'll look cringey and desperate if they keep pushing it while Biden keeps it consistent and keeps doing what he's doing. Dude is going to come off forced and cringey during debates. It'll come down to the electoral college anyways.
Again though, can't be complacent.
