Grappling is 90% whos heavier.....If youre 150 youre not gonna pick someone up and take down a man whos 250...
No. Grappling is mostly technique and leverage. It's only about who's heavier if both are of the same skill level. If you're 150, of course you're not gonna wanna try to pick up a man who is 250 cuz that's a waste of energy, but it's definitely possible. Using a double leg, you don't even have to lift the person up because if you do it correctly, your technique/leverage alone will already have dude off his feet, all you gotta do is duck walk, scoop the legs, drive forward with your head and he's down. Besides....arts like Judo, Jiu Jitsu...etc were designed specifically for smaller people to be able to deal with larger people in close quarter combat.

Thing is...brehs not even fighting like that in the hood anymore.

My generation and earlier didn't need it because we were actually brawling in the hood. Not on twitter and waving guns.

That mma stuff is shyt we were doing back in the 80's. What nikka don't know you can't let someone scoop you? We learned that preteen!

So the problem is, these nikkas have no real world experience fighting. Not even each other any more.

Gospel. I grew up in the 90s n Brooklyn. Everybody had to know how to protect themselves or else you were getting robbed, punkked, etc. Grabbing isn't new and dudes knew how to evade that.

I've been in more fights than I can count n never let someone grab me. The fukk.

I'm also never letting the person swing first if it's getting to the point where fighting is inevitable.

You have posters in here givin that cac credit for his wrestling and grappling skills and attributing it to possible MMA experience lol.

He used leverage and weight adv to take down a man, theres not alot of actual wrestling technique in what he did, most people including old ladies with bitties down to there knees can execute weight advantage take downs...

Actual wrestling and BJJ takedowns require skill from various positions using different hand and leg techniques...

This is what is confusing breh. How did people make out of their youth without getting in fights? Fighting was inevitable growing up. Didn't matter if you were nice, mean, big, small... you were going to get in fights.

How a grown man can be comfortable not knowing how to protect himself has me like :wow:

No one said it's always perfect breh...but what he did works. Judging from his stance, he definitely had some MMA experience, amateur at best, but still experience nontheless. That takedown was def half assed and more strength than technique, but the ends definitely justified the means. Either way, he had the size, skill, and confidence advantage over ol dude. Hell, breh even made the rookie mistake of backing up LINEAR. You are ASKING to get put down especially by someone who knows some shyt....

At the end of the day, he knew what he was doing and the other guy didn't. Fighting is all about adapting to your opponent and breaking their will.

yes i know a few cats who do BJJ at a reputable gym here with Jorge Britto as instructor and i have been with them and taken a few basics in there gym before....its interesting but unless your a blue belt and up it seems very amateurish to me....Alot of those dudes doing basics have limited striking/punching skills and rely solely on grappling and wrestling techniques which wont work against someone with heavy hands...

Thats my assessment of it,albeit based on only a few classes...The higher belted fighters are skilled but i still think a trained boxer would whoop alot of these dudes...

When you say a few basics what exactly did they cover? Was it at a MMA gym or a strick BJJ dojo?
