(1) There really is no such thing as "great sampling"...Most of the time the original sample is already GREAT, and that's why it is being used in the first place...Some samplers are more creative than others...a) Great sampling is about having the ear/vision. Hearing the power in a composition and bringing it into hip hop's flow and narrative. It's not about technical MPC board shyt.

Premo IS NOT one of the more creative samplers...He has made the same beat almost his entire career...If you can't hear it, I guess "ignorance is bliss"...Good for you...
(2) It is an APPROPRIATE metaphor...You have a beautiful animal, an elephant (a beautiful original composition). A poacher sees this beautiful animal, and decides it is going to butcher it (sampling/chopping), just saw he can use the tusks to make beautiful ornaments (Hip Hop), and most times, the poacher just leaves the carcass (the rest of composition) unused...
Makes PERFECT sense...
