a) Great sampling is about having the ear/vision. Hearing the power in a composition and bringing it into hip hop's flow and narrative. It's not about technical MPC board shyt.

b) music is like elephants? :jbhmm: Tell us more breh
(1) There really is no such thing as "great sampling"...Most of the time the original sample is already GREAT, and that's why it is being used in the first place...Some samplers are more creative than others...

Premo IS NOT one of the more creative samplers...He has made the same beat almost his entire career...If you can't hear it, I guess "ignorance is bliss"...Good for you...

(2) It is an APPROPRIATE metaphor...You have a beautiful animal, an elephant (a beautiful original composition). A poacher sees this beautiful animal, and decides it is going to butcher it (sampling/chopping), just saw he can use the tusks to make beautiful ornaments (Hip Hop), and most times, the poacher just leaves the carcass (the rest of composition) unused...

Makes PERFECT sense...

I don't give a fcuk...

I am sticking with my opinion...Sampling is POACHING...You are killing an elephant just to make pretty ornaments with its tusks, but the rest of the body goes to waste...

I sample all the time...But I am not deluded about what it really is...
Your opinion is stupid.
How does sampling kill the original song?
How are the other parts of the song wasted?

Metaphor

Breh, I will say that Premo has a better ear than most cats...
He is not even in the Top 10 most creative...

Dude has made the same beat for the past 20 or so years...I find it fascinating that his fans can't hear it...He has a template that he just plugs in different samples, makes a few adjustments, et voila, "new" Premo beat...

I can hear it as clear as a church bell at noon...I guess I am not deafened by appreciation...:yeshrug:

What's this about Walt Disney? I'm ignorant on what happened. Enlighten me someone.

Basically the Company made it harder to Sample/Borrow ideas. Instead of waiting a relatively "short" time 2 use a piece of something for "free". You now have to wait as long as everybody has 2 wait 2 hear that Skreli album from The Wu in order 2 do that or pay out tha ass 2 do something with it

And as an "up and coming" artist and/or Producer that probably doesn't have any or very much money 2 spend on "additives" like that. It can stipple your vision. Its the reason why Songs only use ONE sample (one that's probably already been used 1000x) instead of 3 or 4 like back in the day

But its not just with Rap but with everything else "Artistic" too.
