The vietnam war is part of the reason why the military has so many strict rules nowadays.
Not necessarily. The Vietnam War and the military in general during that era had loosened restrictions because of the unpopularity of the war, race issues, etc. Once the draft ended and the military started rebuilding in the 70s and the 80s, it went back to how it was before 'Nam.

The average Vietnam vet was poor, most likely Black and under the age of 20. They sent kids out there. This doesn't get talked about enough.
And those kids didn’t give a fukk. The last war their parents fought in hitler was trying to take over the world. I know they were hot that they had to fight against a Vietcong they didn’t even know existed before

Semi related....i spoke to my grandmother last Sat about the men in our family. Most of them died before I was born...violent or oding. nikkas ok the block used join the army to sell drugs. My grandma's bros used to return from deployment with man sized dufflebags of pure heroin. The army never checked. This was in the 60s to 70s. We have pics

A lot of them became addicts because of Vietnam and Korean wars. The locals would sell the drugs relatively cheap...and the buyers were po nikkas from the projects. Drugs helped Asians make America fallback. If you're paying attention to the sources fentanyl, it still is.
