I'm getting a real Petrol Mafia/ Blackwater feel from this. A lot of these dudes were probably recruited or enticed to join because of ideology and/or pride of course but I think it's distinctly possible that at this point commanding officers at least are mercenaries. Plus the whole "rebranding" from "in Iraq and the Levant" to "in Iraq and Syria" is curious. Not many in the US know what the Levant is referring to. Their(ISIS) publicist is probably shyt faced in the Hamptons at this very moment.
