Hogan’s saw the landscape realized his career & gimmick were on the decline and made the decision to tell Bischoff, Hall, & Nash that he needed a heel turn. The man was wise beyond his years
Cena is not hogan, Cena was/is still over he legitimately had no reason to turn heel unless there’s an outside force story wise or bad booking. Imagine if Hogan had the, Whatcha Gonna Do Brother” Farewell Tour and leg drops Savage, it’s too convoluted. Since Cena’s return he hasn’t won a match and was still cheered. Why turn him unless you need a heel for Cody. You may think it’s a good idea that’s cool but I don’t, it just seems poorly executed to me.![]()
Hogan didn't even catch half the hell Cena did from the crowd before he turned. That night he turned was the first time he was outwardly booed since he was a heel 15 years prior. Cena had crowds telling him he sucked to the melody of his theme song while he was the top babyface. Character-wise, he'd have every right to tell the fans A) I'm sick of you MFs and I'm done tryin' to make y'all happy, and B) y'all made this shyt miserable for me and now I'ma make it bad for y'all... any other explanation would be like breaking it down to a 5-year-old. It's not convoluted at all, unless we just wanna complicate it and get super-far into the reasoning behind it. We're treatin' this rasslin' shyt like adults treat comic books when they get older- why we gotta be told who puts gas in the Batmobile or why Clark Kent has to use a phone booth?
