Hogan’s saw the landscape realized his career & gimmick were on the decline and made the decision to tell Bischoff, Hall, & Nash that he needed a heel turn. The man was wise beyond his years

:troll:

Cena is not hogan, Cena was/is still over he legitimately had no reason to turn heel unless there’s an outside force story wise or bad booking. Imagine if Hogan had the, Whatcha Gonna Do Brother” Farewell Tour and leg drops Savage, it’s too convoluted. Since Cena’s return he hasn’t won a match and was still cheered. Why turn him unless you need a heel for Cody. You may think it’s a good idea that’s cool but I don’t, it just seems poorly executed to me. :yeshrug:

Hogan didn't even catch half the hell Cena did from the crowd before he turned. That night he turned was the first time he was outwardly booed since he was a heel 15 years prior. Cena had crowds telling him he sucked to the melody of his theme song while he was the top babyface. Character-wise, he'd have every right to tell the fans A) I'm sick of you MFs and I'm done tryin' to make y'all happy, and B) y'all made this shyt miserable for me and now I'ma make it bad for y'all... any other explanation would be like breaking it down to a 5-year-old. It's not convoluted at all, unless we just wanna complicate it and get super-far into the reasoning behind it. We're treatin' this rasslin' shyt like adults treat comic books when they get older- why we gotta be told who puts gas in the Batmobile or why Clark Kent has to use a phone booth? :lolbron:

per the usual lately: company does a great job of booking the big, shocking, dramatic heel turn angle that gets everyone talking. Then immediately fail to follow up on it because the next episode doesn't have enough space for the necessary weekly Judgment Day update and Rhea segment. And then you're two weeks out, and you have to split time recapping what happened 2 weeks before for the benefit of those with flash photography goldfish memories and then attempting to capitalize on something that was hot a full fortnight prior.

Ironically... booking like that works fine if you binge RAW on Netflix for some reason. But if you're watching week to week, you end up in a Sisyphusian struggle; trying to remember the things that had you hype by the time they double-back on it.

New Day. Naomi. Cena.

HHH over here fukking with black talent again:damn:

i disagree its way better than babyface cena cody/cena is like the only WM buildup that hasn't been flat :heh:
Right... we ain't gonna sit here and act like "I respect you Cody"/"No John, I respect you" would have in any way been better. Nor would some rehash of last year with Cena now in the Roman Reigns role. This dude coming out here and going off on the fans after being a good guy since 2003. It's something to have fun with honestly, people literally wanted this to happen for over half of his career. But instead, we three weeks in and here come all the "tHiS mAKeS nO sENsE" shyt :heh: This is why I said three weeks ago that this could never be as big as the Hogan turn because people are gonna get on social media and thinkpiece it to death before it even gets rollin'.

I only saw the promo last week and I thought it was a damn good heel promo. In the sense of wanting to get boos and make Cody the wrestler the crowd will 100% support. And at least on that segment, it worked flawlessly.

Didn't catch this week but are people saying the angle/feud sucks because the story is shytty or is it a case of them wanting Cena to have a cool character (like Roman's Tribal Chief) and do cool promos and basically become a heel you actually wanna cheer/support?

All I know is that Cena clearly wants to get booed so he ain't gonna be doing no cool shyt.

But like a I said, I didn't watch this week so did the crowd stay silent for his segment this time around? If shyt ain't working, they should pivot. If he's getting big boos and Cody big cheers, then whatever they are doing is at the very least, effective :manny:

We don't know anything about his motivation other than "ha ha I tricked you guys, I hated you all along". Two weeks in a row cutting into the people and not a single time has he addressed Cody, why he teamed with the Rock, etc.

It doesn't make any sense with what the Rock/Cody thing was. Rock's whole thing was ego to buy a man's soul, but also to take Cody and WWE to the next level. Cena's thing is he's been mad at the fans for 20 years and wants to ruin wrestling and WWE. Rock should be real pissed about this. But surely a week or two before WM, Rock will show up and change everything again and the WM match will be nonstop fukkery anyway.

HUH? Hogan was booed pretty hard on quite a few WCW shows in 1995. Definitely was booed out HARD at Rumble 92 at the end when he acted like he was Flair's henchman to help him win.

Cena has always been off the fray with the bigger issue..that's why he doesn't do many money promos. Alot of you got tricked into thinking he did but he always played it cute with that mixed reaction stuff and played into it. Rock and Austin dont do that....Rock can press a button on playing the face reactions but he damn sure can heel however he sees fit in any situation.

I enjoy what we've had so far, but it is far from what it could've been.

At present it just appears that Rock was used to create a situation for Cena to turn rather than this be a part of a larger plan.

I wanted to see what Cena previously described in a CVV interview where he changes his look, gets new music and is lazy, disrespects everyone and constantly turns on people.

He should have come out in sunglasses and red jorts, maybe a shirt that says NEVER GIVE UP but the never is scratched out and the saluting cena is frowning.
:troll:

I think it still has a lot of potential and am looking forward to see what they do with it, tbh... we won't know it was trash until we look at the whole thing in retrospect imo

The big fat elephant in the room that everyone sees is the whole thing is forced and rushed. Should’ve just gave him the last victory lap he deserved. Didn’t need to swerve anything, he doesn’t have enough time to make his anticipated heel turn worth it.

Yep, it's clear that Rock wanted Cody to go heel, and when that got shot down they switched too Cena to appease him. The only thing Rock will be good for is the eventual Cena return to being a face.
