This Lupe x Kendrick thing has been brewing for a good year now....

I remember when I first started posting in the booth from my stalking days on the Section.80 was making some serious noise and dudes was making thread titles like, "Kendrick has stolen Lupes lane" etc. Think it's testimony to Lupe as an artist, being as lyrical as he is that he's managed to capture the imagination of the Hip Hop heads and casual listeners to start brewing something like this up.

Not Elzhi, not Canibus, not Joe buttons, not C Styles, not no one but Lupe. I've been a hater for a minute (mostly due to his reaction on the Trayvon murder ) for a while but these last few days I've gained a hell of a lot of respect for him as an artist. I think @blackslash put it perfectly when he said that his reaction to making this beef purely lyrical was masterful.

His rhyme structure, rhyme patterns and flows are great. Its undeniable. His ability to speak on a variety of topics and keep it cohesive and making sense is great. Lupe prides himself on being someone whos rhymes cant be understand. Struggle metaphors. He cant find the line between complex and familiarity because he reaches when hes constructing his rhymes. He just finds a way to make it sound like it makes sense even though its all a reach.
