Choices aren't the explanation to this situation.

Support system, the right teachers to make you feel like you're worth a damn, parents (Acquille Jean Pollard's father was in and it is jail), peer pressure, etc.


Ken Montgomery grew up in a bad neighborhood but he was fortunate to have the people to make him feel he had the potential.

We can't be caught in the trap of thinking it all simply falls to choosing the straight and narrow or not.

The only assumption is the meme assuming the choices were all of equal weight. But I'm not about to argue this. If you can't understand that trying to boil crime down to 'choice' in a country that has systematically ensured a segment of the population has fewer resources, opportunities and money than the rest is simple minded and short sighted, I'm not the one to explain it to you.
