Whether you think he's planted or not, this dude been grinding for a while. Check out his first mixtape Straight Up from 2010, wanna say he was like 15 or 16 when this dropped. Also check out his band Kids These Days, its a collective of high school bandmates who play various instruments with him as the frontman. I'd be willing to bet that he's built quite a following over the past 3 years which is how he's got all the features.
Seems like he had to graduate from school first before he could really pursue music like he wanted to, check out the interlude with his parents on Straight Up track #4, that was real talk.

People don't just come out of nowhere and have instant buzz and tour with top selling artists and have magazine covers without being prolific and well known or household, not just internet paid sites, but radio, TV or something.
I been knew about the Chance kid on the inside and thats what it is. The lower level folks are marketed to that way today to make you think something is organic and indepndent when it probly more machine oriented than alot of folks who put in work and are actually seen and heard.
Cara Lewis reps Eminem and Kanye and Chance is her rapper.

The kid is alright. Marketing and Connections sells these days not music. If folks hear about something buzzing it's a reason. Has totally nothing to do with the music. Depending on how you're brain is wired you think you like something that really isn't that great just because it's presented a certain way. It's scientific fact.
