As long as real estate is an investment vehicle this problem will only get worse. Chinese money is flowing into the pacific northwest and they are buying everything with no plans at all at actually living there. They can't use the money in China so they are now buying up everything here. Capitalism is bringing a slow death to this country especially when it runs unchecked in Healthcare, education, and housing.

As far as I heard they were doing this as a demonstration because companies are buying up properties, and letting them go unoccupied when people need housing, and are willing to buy. They also gave these women the ability to purchase this house after this incident too I believe.
