When I first heard about it I was like :lupe:

Then they said it was only in the LGBTQ community

Then I looked how it actually spreads today, and that just doesn't make any sense :patrice:

Monkeypox spreads in different ways. The virus can spread from person-to-person through:

  • direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids
  • respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact, or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex
  • touching items (such as clothing or linens) that previously touched the infectious rash or body fluids
  • pregnant people can spread the virus to their fetus through the placenta
So just physical touch and direct contact. Literally none of that is exclusive to the LGBTQ community :why:

Then I looked up the vaccines for it, and the requirements to get vaccinated still don't make any sense

  • A District resident
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men and have had multiple (more than one) or any anonymous sexual partners in the last 14 days; or
  • Transgender women or nonbinary persons assigned male at birth who have sex with men; or
  • Sex workers (of any sexual orientation/gender)
  • Staff (of any sexual orientation/gender) at establishments where sexual activity occurs (e.g., bathhouses, saunas, sex clubs)

You basically have to be gay to get vaccinated for it? But anyone can get it? Like in Africa, men women and CHILDREN have been dealing with it for years

So, what the fukk? It seems like it started spreading in the LGBTQ community in America first, and now people are taking it to be a LGBTQ only disease when it literally isn't?

Didn't we just go through this confusing "how does it spread" misinformation song and dance 2 years ago?

It isn't exclusive to the the lgbtq. It just spreads easier in that demographic because of the way they have sex.

If that list of requirements is real then it's straight bullshyt. I know these motherfukkers ain't overlook hospital staff, teachers, daycare workers and people at grocery stores over "sex worker".

This is western societies thinking they are somehow civilizationally too advanced to be affected by contagious diseases. In their minds, it only happens to africans. Add two years of politicizing public health and here we are :francis:

It doesn't spread easilier among lgbtq, it just started spreading in their community first. Since the requirements for getting a test include being a man who has sex with men, other cases fly under the radar and don't make it into the statistics.

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way
direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids
respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact, or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex

Those infected currently are gay men or as the media like to call them "men that have sex with men".

Therefore they are currently vaccinating the most at risk group.

Unless you're doing any of the above depraved shyt with sodomites, you have nothing to worry about.

However some of you are committed to panicking and living your adult lives in fear. If you're scared, stay home.

Or tell them you're a fakkit and jump to the front of the queue.

I think y’all overestimate the intelligence of doctors. I’ve gone to the ER just to be turned away cause they didn’t know wtf it was, and since I wasn’t dying I wasn’t a concern. Whether it is through ignorance - which can be corrected - or a lack of resources or manpower or whatever, fact is that nobody has all the answers.

These medical professionals just started getting crazy ass cases and detailed various links between them, such as being a gay male, and interpolated that data with whatever else existed. Now that it is pinpointed with accuracy that it is monkey pox, we now know that the old data wasn’t necessarily invalid, just didn’t cover the entire spectrum of the disease.

Yes - Borno, Nigeria is the vibrant centre of homosexuality in that country.

Y’all don’t get it

Monkeypox: Borno confirms four infections, as Nigeria’s cases surpass 100 in 2022

They don't have unlimited vaccines, and as your article pointed out, 95% of the cases in DC are from gay men. It makes sense to attempt to protect that community before it spreads too far and wide. It's obv. too late to put a cap on this, but spreading awareness is important.

"Monkeypox is a rare, but potentially serious viral illness that can be transmitted from person to person through direct contact with infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids. Often, it is spread during intimate physical contact between people, including sex, kissing, and hugging. It also can be spread by respiratory secretions during prolonged face-to-face contact or when a person touches fabrics, such as bedding and towels, used by a person with monkeypox."

Previous articles also stated that this outbreak of monkeypox is a bit different from previous ones. They say that they're finding more skin lesions in their genital and anal areas than before, which explains why it's affecting the gay community harder than the rest.

I'm not saying it's a "gay disease" or anything like that, but I get why they're approaching it in this manner.
