Sc00n has been a contrarian type cat as long as I’ve known about him on social media. Kind of annoying. I do wanna fact check what he was saying tho. I remember Betty writing a letter about her gripes with X in the bedroom :gurl:

Dude was under tremendous stress and pressure, had the CIA and FBI stalking him, media slandering him, then he started beefing with Elijah. of course he wasn't in a state of mind to blow his wife back out

What I didnt like about That DOC is that it made the NOI look like a bunch of directionless, docile , small nikkahs untll Malcolm X came in and turned the group into a franchise. Fukk that bullshyt. Nevermind the fact that Elijah Muhammad was considered one of the most dangerous negroes in the country in 1938 by the FBI.

Then they tried to make it like the Nation was puzzy because they didn't want to go at the LAPD. The Nation went at it with police manytimes.. Notably in Detroit.

NOI was a bunch of jail ninjas that was sold a perverted mashup of Garvey, Islam and history with some fairy tales thrown in by a dude who, by all accounts, was white. They really wasn't popping until the put Malcolm on the streets for the Harlem temple.

They had about 200 members when Malcolm joined he jail. There would be no NOI without him. He trained all those ministers and nikkas like Farrakhan still using his speaking style and cadence.

I would assume that this is indisputable at this point. I heard mad 1st hand accounts from my elders that lived in Harlem during those times. He was the vehicle that drove the growth because of his gift for gab and devotion to the cause. People were drawn to him because they said you can feel that he believed everything he said to his core. When he didn't believe it anymore, he couldn't rock the same with them and we know how the rest of the story goes.

First two tweets of his posted told me everything I needed to know about this cat.

This cat don’t care about the community like that, as money and power is what he respects. Looks like he thinks of Malcolm as a broke boy smh and wants to clown him for not using the attention that he garnered to amass riches.

sad. Smh

this curtis sc00n character is speaking to a dumbed down audience that doesn't read books, not even about IMPORTANT figures in American history.

You can say anything to people like that , and they don't have the knowledge to refute it, or the interest to fact check check.

In past eras, anybody who was gaining steam would eventually have to sit across from Black media figures and get grilled and asked questiones /exposed.

The main things Malcolm did to expand the NOI was
creating their own media vehicle Muhammad Speaks,
and for pioneering the "fishing" tactic...canvassing an area to recruit new members

Word. If we put it in sports terms, he was to the NOI what Jordan was to the NBA.

We are in a post-mainstream media era in a sense because everybody has a platform so there are no more barriers to entry or gatekeepers. It's easy for bullshyt to get amplified because social media has been fine tuned to illicit emotional responses to an issue rather than an informed one. People feel strongly about a topic one way or another and pass along the headline as fact without providing context or scratching the surface.

I'll just start dropping some of my favorite passages from brother Malcolm for the unfamiliar:

Malcolm X from Message to The Grassroots 1963 said:
The slavemaster took Tom and dressed him well, and fed him well, and even gave him a little education — a little education; gave him a long coat and a top hat and made all the other slaves look up to him. Then he used Tom to control them. The same strategy that was used in those days is used today, by the same white man. He takes a Negro, a so-called Negro, and make him prominent, build him up, publicize him, make him a celebrity. And then he becomes a spokesman for Negroes — and a Negro leader.
