um, i think you're mistaken, my dark-skinned breh. i placed those terms in quotes, as i don't view being mixed/light skinned as a privilege at all. i'm just saying that people like you and others who would exclude those of us who identify as "black" come across as sour that you can't enjoy the so-called "privilege" that you think mixed people are rewarded with. read through this thread and others like it, where people will say that mixed blacks are treated "better" than so-called "pure" blacks. i'm not the one claiming it - you and your ilk are.

people like you would deny w.e.b. dubois a place at the seat of our struggle. malcolm would be told to go home and play with the white people because he was mixed. fredrick douglas would have the door to the black community shut in his face because he just didn't come across as "pure" enough in the eyes of racial supremacists like you. i'm going off what you and your "pure" compatriots are saying in this very thread, my dark-skinned breh.

You are naive, privilege is perhaps the wrong word to use, fewer obstacles to living a fair life is more accurate. You are acting like you haven't seen any studies/papers/articles that show the differences in perception and treatment of light/mixed people when it comes to employment, judges' sentencing, teachers' attitudes etc. I'm having difficulty understanding where you have picked up this idea that we are sour.

i would think denying mixed blacks at a place at the table of our struggle is a means of asserting your supremacy, especially when you try to reject their self-identification as black. am i wrong? also, no, mixed blacks do not enjoy any significant privilege in american society that so-called "pure" blacks are refused. ask obama how much "privilege" he's enjoyed as the first black (oops, in your mind, first "mixed") president. tell me how differently you think a so-called "pure" black would be treated had he/she won the white house. i'd venture to say no different at all. their office would, as obama has seen his entire tenture, be viewed as illegitimate and not befitting of an american president.

people like you are delusional, and i can only surmise that it's the result of your own insecurity at being a "pure" black.

I'm all for calling out white looking people trying to claim Blackness. It's almost as if it's cool nowadays because of hip hop & them wanting to be accepted into our community which I can't stand. You get these Tiger Woods syndrome fools growing up like that & then switching the script because they think it's cool. But on the the flip side it can understand some people's POV about some of our light skinned people claiming their Blackness & fighting for the struggle like Adam Clayton Powell Jr. & Thurgood Marshall among many others.

Supremacy in a racial context refers to beliefs of superiority and you know this, you keep accusing me of such despite the fact I have not put forward any such beliefs:rudy:
It's a known fact that mixed people are treated better, I'm not even going to enter a debate on this, so we are going to dead that with the quickness.

Obama is the first biracial/mixed president, FACT. The fact that he is referred to as a black man is due to the US's nasty racial history and white people previously enforcing the one drop rule. Interestingly enough white people are keen to say "he's not just black, he's half white too" nowadays. Obama may provide the biggest push for mixed race people to identify as such in American history:banderas:
Yes, I do believe that he would be treated worse if he were black, based on how things go society in general.

I find it ironic that you accuse me of being insecure at being a pure black person, yet you seem to be the one that goes extra hard on this forum to prove himself with regards to "blackness".

I'm done with you breh, there's a reason so many people on this forum despise you.

you're a fake militant.i schooled you with logic, thus you exit the thread with your tail firmly tucked between your legs. it's cool. i'm more intelligent than you and i don't buy into your twisted anti-black doctrine of racial "purity." kick rocks with your subpar thinking. :camby:

  • A fake militant? I'm not even militant, I'm just a reasonable guy who sees things for what they are.
  • Logic? How can a person be half white and half black genetically, yet be black? To refer to yourself as such is to deny half your heritage and be in agreement with the one drop rule instigated by white supremacy.
  • You're "more intelligent" than me yet you cannot even make use of capital letters :mjlol:
  • I'm anti-black because I think biracial and multi-racial people should identify as such? You aren't even making sense breh.

Allow me to just throw this monkey wrench in your argument...

You know who's not 75% Black? Snoop Dogg

.

So by your logic, Snoop isn't Black. Would anybody really say he ain't Black though :usure:

That's pretty damn close to black, I mean 4% ? really? considering there's a 2% error margin, I would say he passes.

It seems some people are confused.

lets try this again.

75% = black. so yes, if you have 3 black grand parents YOU ARE BLACK. however if you have 2 black grandparents, and the other 2 are something else, no you are not black......that is less than 75%.

People can 'associate' with being black, like Bob's son, and that's fine, but it's called an 'associate' for a reason. They may help with the cause, but on paper, in the census, they are mixed people, not black.
