Very few mainstream rappers have much substance really. As much as I am a fan of Jay-z I think he lacks substance in his catalog. The only time he seems to catch heat for it is when hes directly compared to Nas.

Honestly if you are looking for some real deep, thought provoking lyrics and concepts from mainstream rappers that's your bad.

As for the tough guy talk....maybe it's just me but again, most of them talk tough and 99% of them are not. I don't want to hear songs about Lil Wayne beating people up either.
Funny that you brought up Jay-z because when I took Drake off the search went to Jay and I played the blueprint and it shyts on ANYTHING Drake has made and it has "some" substance. You can't mention them in the same breathe. And with Wayne even if he lacks substance he is still a FAR superior lyricist and has FAR superior wordplay than Drake. Maybe some years ago Drake was good with the slick talk but now to ME he just sucks :scusthov:

I didn't compare them directly as rappers. Jay-z makes better music and can rap better. As far as 'substance' he has very little and they can be compared in that regard. Even 'Song Cry' sounds forced and contrived. The only song on the entire album and honestly up until his career at that point was the song where he thanks everyone. I forget the name of it off top though.

Jay-z, Wayne, and even Gucci Mane I think are all better rappers than Drake. That's not my argument. Saying you can't understand why anyone likes him cuz his substance is weak doesnt sit right IMO. You like rappers who don't have much substance, im sure. His lane is that party / socialize music. Not thought provoking, conscious and/or political.

And I swear to god if someone brings up Tupac Im going to give them the Camby. You are talking about a once in a lifetime type artist and thinking everyone should be able to live up to that standard.

KungFu Fighting & kicks that are fast as Lightning
the truth is that women like him because they like catchy beats and melodies.

and men are drones that do anything to get women's attention, buy gear, get fresh cuts, buy whips etc.... so they listen to him in order to get some ass, the simp mentality "the hoes love it so i fux with it"

I literally have no desire to listen to dudes music tho, i never even downloaded a single MP3 from him

There's this thing that Drake does as a songwriter where he emphasizes and magnifies the most fukking mundane shyt that most people don't care to put much attention to, but it's so mundane that it happens to a lot of people (particularly girls, who pick up little things) and thus they find it easy to relate to him. It's something so small, but I figure that's one of the things that makes him relatable to people - particularly those who ain't that deep (shallow is right to be honest). He does lack substance, but in this climate you certainly don't need it to be successful. He got the right cosigns, he had the girls on smash from early (well, most of them anyway - I know girls who can't stand dude), and he gets outstanding production. Simple really. As an emcee........eh.

BTW, I don't like Drake either but strangely, I get his appeal :yeshrug:

I think I get what you saying, the miniscule personal petty shyt, like facebook/instagram type bullshyt that only corny people give a fukk about. But they relate to that because it's them, petty and pathetic.

Some girls are dumb as fukk, if Drake was a regular dude he's passed by, HOES though... they flock to anybody with money or fame, look at for instance football/soccer, people used to diss Danny Welbeck for his looks, now he's "bae" so "handsome" lol and all this bullshyt lol. Money makes HOES (not women) turned on, fame makes hoes turned on, it's just the way it is. Look at that Ross line, "it only controls every bytch that's alive" about money, and that's not true about EVERY but dumb hoes certainly, hoes fukk old crusty men if they paper right.

His beats, mm, I'm not sure, his beats aren't THAT dope to me, a little bland, he has some good beats no doubt, I liked Pound Cake and some others, but a lot of his production is a bit bland and samey to me, I've heard his whole catalogue and not many of the beats have REALLY struck with me, where I'm like this beat is fukking ill, he has some decent beats but I've heard dudes have better beats, the production on the new Ghostface album for instance, I like that shyt...

If he is the top rapper in the game right now then can somebody please explain to me WHY? It can't be only bytches buying this shyt...is it because he light skinned :to:
That's how you know a nikka is making up shyt to hate on drake. He's still a rapper/pseudo singer....why you saying "was"? :mjlol:

and do you even know the definition of "rhymer"?? if you did, you wouldn't use that to criticize dude....shyt you could have use lyricist....:heh:
