never understand dude appeal.
I remember this thread
Interesting to see what the take is after this last album he just dropped![]()
FACTSNo
As much as a primadonna as Kanye is he still is a wayyyyyy better and more Hip Hop artist than drake will ever be
Look What Youve Done, as personal as it is. I think it resonates the most with young.i'm not, all those artists have self centerd moments, but they have the talent to transcend that element. and i feel they tell other peoples stories using first person narratives. ultimately big and jay are telling the stories about nikkaz who made bad decisions out of desperation, and those stories are about a generation of kids who grew up in the crack era, which was a particularly destructive time in american history. even beyond the musicality of it it is an important historical document.
whats the subtext to drakes shyt though? its hard being a rich kid like him. lmao.
Did you change your name? first post i ever seen from you, yet you got 5k posts racked upThere's this thing that Drake does as a songwriter where he emphasizes and magnifies the most fukking mundane shyt that most people don't care to put much attention to, but it's so mundane that it happens to a lot of people (particularly girls, who pick up little things) and thus they find it easy to relate to him. It's something so small, but I figure that's one of the things that makes him relatable to people - particularly those who ain't that deep (shallow is right to be honest). He does lack substance, but in this climate you certainly don't need it to be successful. He got the right cosigns, he had the girls on smash from early (well, most of them anyway - I know girls who can't stand dude), and he gets outstanding production. Simple really. As an emcee........eh.
BTW, I don't like Drake either but strangely, I get his appeal![]()
Gotta stay currentI don't mind drake in any form... but it's interesting you bring up how he's spitting all this "street" shiit now/as of late.
The equivalent is seeing Mary J finally shedding all this skin at this point in her career.
Almost as though they're all compensating for something.
