I just read the thread, he wasn't comparing the transgender individual wanting to shower with a woman to jim crow, he was comparing the responses given in the thread to the responses bigoted white people gave to blacks during jim crow. Calling these people "it", saying their existence is a signal of the end times, comparing them to animals. Imagine if you were a transgender person seeing this stuff written about you. These are human beings, man. They have feelings and rights just like the rest of us. This was the lesson that going through an experience like Jim Crow should have taught black people; bigotry is a stain on the soul. I've been on the other end comments just like this, and it made me resolve to never do the same to another person. People here are verbatim using the language and arguments that were once used against us, and it's fukking sad as all hell. It's wrong breh. It's just wrong. Acknowledging that other people can be victims of bigotry doesn't diminish the pain and suffering that black people have gone through. Instead of approaching these people with an open heart and mind, we're internalizing the hatred that was spewed on us and are now spewing it back out onto another people. Shameful. Any black man or woman engaging in such activity is lost, a victim of vicious and hateful legacy of white supremacy, victimizing others in return.
