She wasn’t being literal :comeon:

As far as her overall point I agree. Charlotte is a very in-between type city. I went to school in Richmond and I’d argue Richmond is more stereotypically ‘southern’ than Charlotte.

Put it like this do you think of J Cole as a southern rapper? There is clearly a difference between j Cole and …Big Krit. Bun B…Gucci Mane.
Make the argument that Richmond is more southern than Charlotte. I lived in Jackson Ward Richmond, and I lived in South Charlotte near the intersection of South and Tyvola...

Here's what my neighborhood in Charlotte looked like:

Richmond:

Richmond is much more dense and heavy density is not a southern trait, typically...

I love bith cities but you arent making a logical argument calling Richmond "more" southern...

Also 757 as a whole is just as characteristically southern than 804. Richmond is more urban abd less typically southern than anywhere in the 75, then it's Virginia Beach. Charlottesville and Fredericksburg aren't heavily southern, but the counties in Central Virginia are more heavily southern. The counties in Hampton Roads are the same, and the cities in Hampton Roads are all pretty noticeably southern besides The Beach, and some of Norfolk abd Chesapeake...

Hampton is way more country status than Charlottesville. Where are you from? These are some terrible viewpoints...
I said ‘think of’

Or even better, Clipse. Southern group?Pharrell? Do you think of Pharell as a southern producer/artist :beli:

You’d have to be from around here to really understand.

As pointed out earlier the south starts in Richmond…but doesn’t really include 757 to the east. Norfolk is country, but Va beach just 30 min anway isn’t at all. Hampton depends. But to the west it’s all country, Charlottesville, Blacksburg, Radford, etc it’s tricky.

Whereas ain’t nothin tricky when you get to South Carolina and below

Outside of Charlotte, North Carolina is Dixieland. Hell, there’s still plenty of southern culture in Charlotte that hasn’t been completely erased. The transplants have brought their businesses and chains down from NY, but the most popular chains in Charlotte still remain the local Soutehrn ones: Cookout, Bojangles, etc.

Plenty of old school Southerners in Charlotte. It seems like(I may be wrong) black folks in Charlotte who aren’t transplants, are descendents of black ppl who came from South Carolina in the great migration. Charlotte was one of those intra-regional migration cities for black ppl who didn’t completely flee the South. North Carolina can’t be anything else but southern. And there’s still plenty of old school white Dixieland Southern money in Charlotte in certain old school neighborhoods. :mjpls:

Also, people confuse brick structures with being exclusively northern. NC(like many Piedmont southern states) was a historic mill town state. The brick doesn’t make it non-southern.

Anything below the mason dixon is the south…

@murksiderock told you NC nikkas think they from up top lmao
Most secure NC people are proud Southerners. It’s really the very few, who want to associate with up north. JayZ stans, and those who have family up north and wanna be down with their cool cousins. Again, very few think this way.

:mjlol: Charlotte native DaBaby sound like an Up North rapper to you? What about other underground Charlotte native rappers like Bettie Grind, DeNiro Farrar, etc?

They all sound like they could be from Philly, NYC, or Boston. Southern? What Southern? :troll:

Breh are you familiar with anything NC outside of Charlotte? Not saying you're not, but honestly curious.

I’m familiar with ALOT of NC outside of Charlotte. The mountains(Asheville), the coast, RDU, Greensboro(triad) etc. North Carolina can’t be defined as anything but Southern. Ain’t no way it’s not the South. What about you? Are familiar with the state? Do you feel it’s not southern? :mjpls:

I would argue Charlotte has retained more of its 'southerness' than even the Triangle.

The triangle, to me, has a similar vibe to parts of Northern Virginia especially in the outer suburbs.

Both are full of transplants and a transient population.

Bothagave a growing foreign population, though NOVA is much more cosmopolitan.

Lots of jobs centered around the govt, tech and education.

Both have LOTS and LOTS of construction of new massive apt buildings and office buildings. I was in Downtown Durham for the first time in years recently and almost didn't even recognize it. The RTP area is even crazier with the construction.

Calm down, breh. It was a simple question. Of course its the south. Your "outside of Charlotte, NC is...." comment was giving me transplant vibes but if not, its all good.

Not to get off track but I feel this way too. Breh said the whole state except Charlotte was dixie land when part of Charlotte is in South Carolina lol. The Triangle aspires to be the Silicone Valley of the South. Charlotte wants to be Atlanta jr.

Charlotte is constantly under construction as well. Cary is famous for its transplants from New York.

I don’t see what gave it those vibes. I’ve seen a lot of the state. And know a lot of people from throughout the state. And spoken and talked with them. :mjlol:
You don't even need to go as far as North Carolina.

Outside of the DC Metropolitan area Virginia is basically a southern state.
Right. Even some parts of NoVa didn’t feel asimilar to much of the South. Not to me at least. NoVa has some southern elements still in tact.

NOVA looks like Atlanta. NOVA is most certainly built like a sunbelt city.
