Breakdown of some of those games coming. Long post and I will cliff notes it at the end. A quality defense and running game makes a huge difference. The saints only scored 24 on offense, but the game was played at a fairly slow pace if I recall right. I don't think brees even threw 30 passes. Hard to win when you force no turnovers and the opposing quarterback completes 75% of his passes. Against Seattle, how Peyton played was irrelevant for several reasons. The defense entirely no showed and let the Seattle offense score 27 on its own. There was the bad snap on the first play that resulted in a safety, which was indicative of how bad the line would play all game, both in run blocking and in pass protection. Then there is also the kick return in the second half. Seattle scored 36 points off their offense, special teams, and a bad snap by Denver. They didn't give up 25 in a single game that year. Peyton would've had to lead Denver to at least 37 in order to win. With the way nobody showed up on offense and the way the Seahawks played that night, I don't think anyone was gonna beat them. The loss to the jets was bad. It was 17-0 jets before he even threw a pass. I can't recall much else about that game. The loss to Miami yeah the defense was ass cheeks and the kicker missed the game winner too. Against the steelers in 2005, again he missed with the season on the line and it cost the kicker his job. 2007 against the chargers, with LT, Rivers, and gates out, the colts defense folded with the season on the line, allowing more points than they had all year by letting Billy Volek lead the game winning drive. Then his receivers dropped their passes on third and fourth down. A year later his defense folded and let the chargers tie the game to force overtime and then gave up a touchdown to start overtime. Peyton left the field with a lead and never got a chance to get it back. Then I'm 2010 against he jets he lead them down to kick the go ahead field goal for a 15-14 lead with 50 seconds left and the defense blew it again, allowing Sanchez to put the jets in position to kick the game winner at the buzzer. 2012 his defense gave up I think 31 points, including that Hail Mary where the safety entirely blew it on his coverage with 40 seconds left to cost the broncos the win against the ravens. Ironically his defense and running game pulled through for him a year ago when his arm was completely shot and he couldn't hold his end up anymore.

Cliff notes is it's better to have solid receivers and a good running game to pair with a good defense because you always play better defenses in the playoffs and can't expect every game to be a shootout. Some games will be low scoring and you gotta be able to play defense.
You ever notice how every single player Peyton Manning played with is a superstar? There's one common denominator with all of those dudes

What?? Marvin Harrison is a HOFer and in my opinion, the best route runner ever..
Reggie Wayne was just as good with Luck after Peyton left and he was the all time leader in catches at Miami..Question if Peyton makes everyone a star then how come none of his no.2 Wrs were productive before Reggie Wayne? Wes Welkers production went down with Peyton, Eric Deckers best year wa with Fitzpatrick in NYJ..

And when Harvin got hurt retired Peyton kept on balling. And what would you call productive? Because all of the receivers who have played with Peyton have had some of their most productive years with him. And they had top 10 offenses in the 2 years before they got Wayne.
And Reggie Wayne was "just as good(not really)" because he got another QB who could get him the ball.

Welker's production went down because he was the 4th best receiver on the team at the time.

Also, Harvin has 2 career TDs in the playoffs and 1 one hundred yard game, both of which came in the same game. Was he just running wide open out there and Peyton was missing? Or was he getting locked the fukk up once teams got physical?

And while Eric Decker had some good years, we could agree that the Jets O probably would have been better under Peyton right?

The Seattle call was the right call, bad execution. They caught the Patriots with the wrong personnel and threw the ball. I blame the WR for slowing up on his route. Nobody EVER intercepts a ball over the top so you know he had to be moving slow to his spot.

I think people get too hung up on the whole conspiracy angle. You know Pete Carroll gives zero fukks about all that noise.

I heard the team started doubting his leadership tho......:patrice:

Yeah but Eric Decker went to NY and balled out with Fitzpatrick(1000+ yards and 12 td's)

So let's not act like it's all Peyton making these guys good.

and Peyton didn't miss him, that's the point I'm making. Replace Harvin with sanders and it's the same results. Replace decker with hogan and it's the same results. Unless you're a freak of nature like Julio your skill set can be replaced

Jets didn't finish in the top 10 in scoring offense either, and finished damn near last his 1st season

Vigilante Season
As bad as the rule changes and no two a day practices have been for football, the coaches are just as problematic. There's only 2-3 championship caliber coaches in the league at all. Everyone else is kinda shytty and/or sloppy seconds from the previous team that fired them. I mean shyt, Warner didn't have a good coach at any point from 2000-2009, Manning took 4 different coaches to the super bowl, the bills and jets and fins have each gone through 4 coaches or more in the last 16 years. The niners chased him harbaugh away to hire a new guy every year. Dallas wasted Romo's career saddling him with hot trash at head coach from 2007-today, and Favre last played for a good coach in 1998, spending the final 12 seasons of his career with someone terrible on the sidelines. It's a pretty bleak picture when you look at it.

The current bargaining agreement put an end to two a day practices if memory serves me right. Means less reps in so guys aren't as well practiced and new players aren't as well developed. Means more bad tackling, more sloppy route running, less chemistry as a unit on defense which leads to more blown coverages among other issues.
