depending on what point in DB's story you take them as, goku and vegeta's natural power levels are now at such ridiculous highs that they dont really need to level up for characters who move in normal speed like wolverine. even if wolverine landed a scratch, by DBZ's time the fighters have been shown to be pretty much impervious to melee weapons.
