As a youngin growing up in the late 70's/ early 80's, I wanted just 1/10th of Rick James's swag levels. But yea as an artist dude was fukking brilliant, I would check for Garden of Love too, I think it's his most underrated album or at least one I don't hear get a lot of shine, he really threw it back on that shyt.
