:snoop: All we have left is music and you won't even take the time to bump some classics.
Classic is subjective and does NOT make something good...Wack music can be classic...

I DON'T fcuks with 80's music...That's one era of music I just don't fcuks with...Almost everything was wack in the 80's...Just go outside, and look at how kids today dress, that is the 80's, and it looks wack...

The only 80's stuff I fcuks are the action movies by legends like JCVD, Dolph Lungren, Arnold, Stallone...I fcuks with 80's action movies...

The music was TURRIBLE...

Remember when you were younger and them old heads used to say "You don't know nothing about real music young boi :childplease:. Find me someone from today that makes better music than Duke Ellington and Nat King Cole :flabbynsick: That's real music, not that manufactured garbage you're listening to like Rick James, Lionell Ritchie and Sevie Wondier :skip:"

Now it's your turn to be flabby n sick breh :russ:

I understand the first two you listed...that argument is understandable but be honest with your self dizzle.....you know one of those are not like the other.....a 12 year old Blind kid playing numerous instruments and you grouped him with rick james and lionell ritchie? what are you doing :birdman:

This.

I think folks like @nineteeneightysix say shyt like that because they noticed the drop off of Black music groups in the 80s...

But like you said the R&B and funk in that decade was amazing....lets not forget in addition to who you listed....jody watley and patrice rushen's underrated asses....jody dropped 2 records towards the end of the 80s but it still had the 80s feel and both were still classic music of that era...

patrice rushen was around since the late 70s but still released classic in the 80s...

phyllis hyman....janet with songs like "pleasure principle"

Here's why your argument is dumb.

Music is music, old or not. Obviously it was good enough that all the rap nikkas we praise were sampling their shyt. If new nikkas ain't on their talent level, they're just not. And they're not. The only thing worse than most of the current top R&B acts is the generation that's gonna come up influenced by them.

Most of us didn't grow up with the artists you're referencing. On top of that, most of 'em were "old" even in their prime, and out of the game by the 90s. But they had classic timeless records, regardless.

People equate "newer" with "better", and nothing could be further from the truth in any year, not even back then. Better is better.

And yet, damn near everybody in the 90s spent over half the decade sampling everything from the 80s they could get their hands on.

:what:
I was generalizing...It will be IMPOSSIBLE to name every artist and give my opinion on the music...The general sense I get from the 80's is that it was WACK...Of course there are ALWAYS exception...

I am just not a fan of the 80's sound...The 80's was a corny era...A lot of over the top gimmicks and etc...People wearing weird costumes and etc...
