I thought it was already well known that the Ring company will willingly hand over your footage (or as they may see it "their" footage) to authorities freely when asked.

Dont understand the nature of these tech companies brehs.
As someone said it seems it auto opt in. You have to opt out it seems which is the rule more than the exception with these companies these days. Also it’s better to assume the worst as it relates to this companies and data. Data is the number one commodity and they will do anything and everything to get it from you. Just to your point TikTok has something now where their new privacy updates and data collect will even reset your opt out status on restart and the like.
