This Rock interview blows my mind. Why is Vince's philosophy different now?

Because ultimately that can damage up and coming faces. Plus it's more difficult to get parents to buy their kids merchandise for a guy that does terrible shyt.

It's why you're unlikely to see a bunch Braun Strowman merchandise anytime soon
.

I don't buy this argument. Heels that get cheered ultimately can sell a fukk ton of merchandise too if they push his stuff the right way. WWE's audience is mostly adults anyway, the myth that merch numbers are run by kids or what parents buy them is :dwillhuh: to me in 2017. If a wrestlers gets got, wether he's a heel or a face, he's gonna move numbers regardless. If there's parents that wont buy his shirts to their kids, that will be balanced or even surpassed by the adult fanbase that find that guy cool, so he's gonna draw anyway.

Braun doesn't sell much because he doesn't have any decent merch items at all yet. If he had 1 item worth a damn and WWE pushed it, it would probably start selling a lot.

Regarding the "damaging the face" argument, that I can agree with. But not because a popular heel is a bad thing, but because WWE's booking is so fukking atrocious that it's hard to picture them putting faces in a position were they come out looking good against a bad guy that gets cheered.

Rock would be a complete flop in 2017. He'd be booed out the building as a face and cheered out the building as a heel. That's EXACTLY what would happen with Reigns or Cena

and Vince has continually been proven right by turning popular heels to a face only for them to get crickets or booed

2017 crowds have all but destroyed ring psychology

:heh: It's true man. The smark fandom has turned the E upside down, and it becomes a headache man.
Roman isn't anywhere near as cool with the fans as a heel Miz, heel Lana have proven to be. Roman is in a very bad spot right now. Fans are treating Stroman like the top face..lol.

Just go with it. Wrestling is a sport. Let the crowd do what they want but also let the guys say what they want.

"We can continue to shove you down people's throats, or we can turn you heel 'cause they want to boo you anyway." (around the 1:00 mark).

Why is his philosophy different when it comes to Roman?

Because :flabbyvince:

Why not have him be the heel that gets cheered? It's worked very well for Tetsuya Naito and New Japan.
If we're being real, nothing about Steve Austin screamed face either. They just let him be him and booked him logically while giving the win/loss results that the crowd wanted.

Roman cut two heel promos in a row. Do you smarks even watch the product?

I wasn't clear, I'm saying that's WWE's logic, Vince and people close to him have said as much in the past. I don't buy it either considering how over Angle was and how much merchandise he was moving during his heel runs....same goes for HHH.

The only person who isn't getting the desired crowd reaction is Roman. Don't make this about "smarks".....you smark. :mjpls:

:stopitslime:

Miz has been getting a lot of cheers lately despite him being a heel and trying to annoy crowds.

Kevin Owens and Jericho were getting cheered when they were both heels.

Bray Wyatt is a heel but he almost never gets booed.

Bayley was getting booed this past Monday as a face.

When is the last time anybody booed AJ Styles?

Crowds tend to be indifferent to Rollins and Ambrose, but a lot of that is due to poor booking.
