Are ppl saying that?? Or are they saying that Taylor is not held up in any esteem amongst Black culture/community?? I like a good bit of Taylor music(as well as some Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato who are better vocalist by far) but not enough to ever pay for a ticket for her. She's cool but she's never "crossed over" to the Black community and she don't need to and the majority doesn't care either way.

She doesn't need to "cross over" she was never niche. If anything she crossed over from country to pop. And Demi couldn't stay out of rehab.

That's what I said. She didn't and doesn't have to appeal to any other demographic but her own to outsell and outearn other artists. Black artists, women specifically don't have that luxury(since ppl keep comparing her to Beyoncé and other Black artists).

During the singer-songwriter's third Eras Tour show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Sunday, her piano began malfunctioning and playing notes by itself — after it rained "like a monsoon" during her show at the same venue the night before, she explained in videos captured by fans.

"Here's what happened. So, it rained a lot last night — like a monsoon. To be exact, it rained for three and a half hours straight, and it just kept getting more and more rain," said Swift, 33, while seated at the piano for the show's surprise songs section. "Literally, it was like a water park under the stage. You have no idea."

Following the performance, she took to social media and thanked the audience for attending the show: "Last night we all danced together in the rain for THE ENTIRE 3.5 HOUR SHOW in foxy Foxborough MA!!"

Massachusetts dad Anthony Silva was forced to spend $21,000 for his daughter and friends to see Taylor Swift’s sold-out concert because his original tickets never arrived, according to a report.

In November, Silva bought four tickets for Swift’s “The Era’s Tour” stop at Gillette Stadium on May 19 as a Christmas gift for his 19-year-old daughter Katlyn.

The entire set, purchased through StubHub cost Silva $1,800, but he was still empty-handed days before the show.

He opted to go through a different ticket site where he met the massive $21,000 price tag — 11 times the total amount he paid.

Yep. Musical and cultural tastes are much more insular than before. As a consumer, it’s much easier to listen to music that caters to your tastes, aesthetics and sensibilities and automatically ignore everything else. It’s a world of niches and YouTube/social media/internet killed the crossover mtv superstar. Artists can only be big in their musical lane and that’s it, outside of their core audience, no one cares and its nearly impossible for them to gain new fans and convert new/different people to their music.(Of course there are some exceptions, I'm talking about the new normal in the music industry now)They can only attract their crowd on some your vibes attract your tribe shyt. There is no fanbase overlap between Taylor swift and almost any rapper except maybe Drake. There is no fanbase crossover Between bro country singers and modern Jazz artists.

The dominant ubiquitousness of MTV between 1980-2010 allowed a general monoculture of music. Before the internet/social media/youtube/ modern video gaming era, everyone watched TV , it was maybe the only source of entertainment alongside with terrestial radio, back then TV had a wide and massive cultural and technological reach. Because of that, people were exposed to artists and musical genres they normally didn’t listen to. And as aa result, a lot of people expanded their musical tastes/repertoire. Pure white bread cacs knew Mary J bilge, Bobby Brown, Puff Daddy, Mase and Jodeci were because they saw their videoclips while they were waiting for a Metallica, Green Day or Madonna song to come out. And because od that, some of them cacs became fans of r&b, soul and hip-hop. Same thing for brehs/brehettes , black folks knew about Nirvana, Avril Lavigne, Garth brooks and Bon Jovi because of mtv exposure. That’s how we got some black generation x nirvana fans.

This right here is facts. Harry Styles just won album of the year and Id never heard a single song until the Grammys. What you said is exactly right. Theres no central place for all music really untill the grammys. MTV and the Box was that back in the day. You could be all hip hop but there was no way you didn't hear "opps I did it again" or " Bye Bye Bye". Them records were just so massive and again MTV had it in your face. I remember the VMAs one year I was rooting for the Fugees to win video of the year and Smashing Pumpkins won. I wasn't pissed cause I rocked with "Tonight Tonight" too. . These days it would be I never heard of the Smashing Pumpkins. Taylor Swift is one of the biggest artist on the planet and brehs are on here saying they never heard but 2 songs of hers? How is that possible? Thats why.
