I doubt we will see a $15-$20k electric car anytime soon. Other car makers really ain't trying to go all in with that electric car life. I honestly think they are waiting to see the response to the Model 3.

As for production time, Tesla has to build a giga factory in order to mass produce the Model 3, which will cost a lot of bread. When the Model S was announced people who had pre ordered it had to wait a couple years just to get it. That's why Tesla is building a huge factory.

With gas at less than $2/gallon, manufacturers have no incentive to research electric cars, plus the battery tech is too far behind. If you can invent an ultra long lasting, compact power source, you can rule the world.
Also, Tesla don't even remotely have the infrastructure to support demand if they introduced the Model 3. The fact that it's a Tesla AND it's affordable? It would be like those lunatics trying to cop the next all new iPhone...just straight pandemonium...

I could be wrong but Japanese cars are the top sellers though and majority cost sub 30k with most full size sedans being between 18-25k, and things like bluetooth,back up cams, etc come standard nowadays.

I'm pretty sure they are but I think at 30k people can make that little extra sacrifice.Thats more what I was saying based on seeing a lot of cars that around that price nicely equipped on the roads.
