As a teacher, I can tell you flat out that the worst kids are the whipped kids. Sure, they're all scared and behaving AT HOME. Then they come to school and act like complete fukking fools. And then they sit and exchange war stories that would chill your blood about being beaten with all kinds of stuff. I can't stand their parents half the time. See, you want your child to say, "I won't do that again because that's not a good thing," Whereas these kids are saying "I won't do it again because I'll get a whuppin." Same thing? Not at all. Because once the fear of the beating disappears, you have nothing.

I've had to tell a number of black parents that they may not bring belts into my class. My class is a sanctuary. My kids are here to learn. I will not tolerate your ignorant slavery-ass shyt. If your ass beatings were working, your kid wouldn't be such an obnoxious fukking brat. Black (American) parents are really big on breaking their kids. We don't want our children to do anything but "mind." HOWEVER, it's my experience that it truly is not out of malice. They're doing all they know, and the stakes are FAR higher for our kids. It's not necessarily bad parenting, but it's harsh parenting. I'd like to do my PhD on this subject eventually. Black parents have to understand that the age of the whuppin has passed. That's not saying anything about out parents or their parents or back in the day. It's just...over. This wildebeest of a mother probably does mean well. She's probably desperate to the point of being afraid for her dumb-ass daughter. But recording the shyt and putting on FB? Trash-ass bytch. Not a drop of sympathy from me.

(It's true that other cultures beat their kids, too. God knows it ain't just us. However, if their kid is the 8th daisy in the far right row in the summer play, their families are there with camcorders.)
Yes I fully agree with you that it's all they know, however in the moment many times it is out of anger and frustration. You can't discipline without restraint. And also when will come the time that we need to stop making excuses for people, and begin to hold them accountable for their actions?
