no longer black owned. go with city national.

Yeah, my business actual has its account with Carver. I stick with them since they did do some stuff to help homeowners who got stuck in 2008 and the employees and top management are all still Black pretty much. What happened was that in 2008 they had such a large bad loan portfolio that the Feds told them to raise capital or be seized by the government and closed (no TARP $ for nikkas). So they took the money from Goldman, Citigroup, Prudential, and others who twisted their arm for almost 98% or so of the equity.

I hold out the hope they can eventually get bought back out and they will loan money to the local community. If they don't, I will bounce to City National or Industrial.

OneUnited is not the only bank that lets you open accounts online

City National Bank, Industrial Bank, Liberty Bank, and Urban Partnership Bank let you open accounts if you are a US citizen

Harbor Bank and Mechanics & Farmers Bank limit the states you can sign up in so you have to check the websites

It's great to see us doing things that have a long-term positive impact. This is better than boycotting Black Friday or not buying gas on a certain date or whatever, and way better than just using hashtags to create "awareness."
It's pretty exciting. I think the coolest part is that it is completely black inspired with 0 outside influence. I've never seen a movement pick up steam like this so fast. It's like it just clicked.
