I was reading the other atheist thread and was wondering what made you come to the decision of becoming and atheist or agnostic? :patrice:Also why do you always criticize Christians or other religions about our beliefs and judge us yet ya'll do the same?

I don't judge Christians or any other religion, the religions have been around for more years than I've lived so they must have done some good.

What made me what I am, I guess taking into consideration the possibilities.

I'm not an atheist btw

1. Overly judgemental Christians
2. Every religion believing they are the true religion (So are they all right or they all wrong?)
3. Religious people shaming non-believers
4. Religious people committing stupid acts on the daily and flouting responsibility because "God forgives"
5. If praying to God brings me blessings, why are the Haitians still suffering from that earthquake? Why do kids who didn't ask to be born get aborted? Do they go to heaven? There is no logic to religion, and people justify nonsense by saying it "isn't for us to understand."

just started thinking for myself :manny:

started in saturday morning catholic school (classes we had to take in order to get our 1st communion and confirmation as catholics). shyt just didnt make sense to me that adam and eve were the only 2 humans at some point. then we asked the teacher if there were dinosaurs there too because in regular school they told us there were no humans when dinosaurs roamed the planet. little by little my bs alarm started to go off.

personally i dont judge religious people as long as they keep it to themselves. if they shove that shyt in my face tho i give them the :childplease:.

Because religion is a whole bunch of arbitrary bullshyt and rules, you don't need it to be a moral person. Plus you gotta think for your damn self, life ain't supposed to be about saving yourself from some imaginary hell. :comeon:

that reminds me of rust cohle in true detective

"If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward then, brother, that person is a piece of sh*t. "

My dad was a Jehovah's witness so I explored what they were about for a while. Came to the conclusion that I didn't agree with what was in the bible.

Don't care if people are religious or not though, but shyt, if your church is actually doing good for the community more power to you. Just don't push that shyt on me.

Cause most christians (especially minority christians) are brainwashed victims and we have to eradicate this nonsense so we can evolve

Other religions as well, but christians bother me the most cause Im in America..

I decided to use my common sense.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. As Christians our main goal is to evangelize or spread the good word. Now I know there are many out there that take this to the extreme and over do it but atheists and agnostics are always quick to call people who have religion (especially Christians) slaves, or brainwashed, or fools. Yet ya'll get on us for judging you for not believing or wondering if God is real :beli:. My thing is everybody has a right to believe in what they want to . It seems like atheists are some of the most closed minded people on Earth cuz they want proof of everything. I'm a Christian but I've been open minded and have wondered a lot of things but thats where faith comes in. So let me ask do you atheists or agnostics believe in faith? :patrice:

Here's the thing, that might have made sense hundreds or thousands of years ago. But by now everyone on the planet is aware of Christianity and can look into it by themselves if they so choose. Just about anyone can walk into a church and have a talk with the priest to see what Christianity is about. So the efforts to 'spread the word' are misplaced.

My perspective has always been "do whatever you want, but don't piss on my leg." So theists are free to believe whatever they want, but I demand that same tolerance in return.

edit: And I always thought as Christians your main goal was to live life in accordance to God's laws...
