Spent 18 straight years in church, every Sunday sometime during the week. Read the Bible (NIV and KJV), The Torah, the Qu'ran, and studied Buddhism.
Found contradictions, lots of them, found discrepancies, different interpretations, outdated rules. Used logic. Studied the histories of all. Saw that it was a mix of madeup stories, mysticism and history. Saw how pointless it was. Moved away. I always had National Geographic and the like, and when there are people in church telling me that evolution didn't happen when there is evidence that did. It was a year long process, and a little stressful. But I'm an atheist now, whatever that means. I don't believe in any religion, I'm an academic, a Socialist and a feminist supporter. I work based on evidence and there isn't any for religion.

The evolution chart that is widely used to push that bullshyt has actually been considered outdated for damn near a hundred years. See, you would know that if you knew anything about the very thing that you're so adamantly convinced is wrong. for me believing in God isn't based on facts and evidence. I've dealt with situations where there just isn't a logical explanation and I choose to believe that God intervened. Maybe if some of you guys had those types of experiences it would be easier to accept something without being given cold hard facts

Pretty much what @Napoleon said. I showed an ex-gf "Religulous" and during the heated debate once she exhausted her argument she resorted back the the tired ol "I've had experiences happen that I just knew it was God".

let me start off by saying i really don't wish anything bad upon you...now that we have that out of the way:
what if you got into an accident that left you paralyzed?
think about how many people are living life without being able to use or feel their bodies.
you give God credit and praise for the good things, but what about the disastrous events that befall people?
what would you tell all of the paralyzed people?
"thank God you still have your life"?
how many of those people would take solace in that...would you?
would you thank God that you are still alive even though you can only force a smile and blink?

The thing about belief in God is that it raises too many questions. Things like, who made God? If he's all powerful and all loving then how come the Earth is in such dire shape? The universe, as we know it, is utter chaos, not orderly. This does not suggest of a creator, and if it does, a not particularly good one.
Its been outdated 100 years but I learned about it in school 15-20 years ago
Thats what makes God the source....you can't explain certain things that happen....for instance if you're in a car accident with 4 people and 3 people die but you walk away without a scratch what can your reasoning be for that? Physics? That would be nothing but God
