To believe in God is not to believe in a book of words that was written by a human that is x thousands of years old. Everyone believes in something. Atheists believe that there is no "GOD", but yet most of them believe in the Big Bang theory, which could be labeled as "GOD" creating the universe. Its a circle jerk because if you believe that The Big Bang Theory popped up out of NOWHERE then that NOWHERE came from somewhere and it goes on and on. Something being formed from Nothing, which means something was there to begin with. Everyone has their own beliefs and is entitled to there opinion but there are EXTREMISTS on Both Ends. If you read the Bible or any religious book with an open mind in this day and age, then you can dismiss the old world philosophy and put into action the words that are spoken to enhance your life and to not take every little thing literal and instead use it as a stepping stone to progress in life.

Thinking for ones self and being a theist are not mutually exclusive. You can believe in God or a higher power and understand the context of man-made establishments created to subvert, control and manipulate people into a shared pattern of thought.
Christian/Muslim/Jewish ect nations commit just as many atrocities as secular ones. Destruction and Oppression are parts of the human condition. It has very little to do with religion when you look at it.
I still respect ya'll for going at the chest of some people....anyone doing anything of the word of some man in a suit at a lectern and not through their own study I cannot respect.
