First, Kanye West left Nike to team up with Adidas in a move that caused a stir in the sneaker community. Then, Kevin Durant nearly ditched The Swoosh for Under Armour. Now, three of Nike's top designers have decided to cut ties with the super brand in favor of Adidas.

You may not be familiar with Marc Dolce, Mark Miner, or Denis Dekovic, but they're responsible for some of your favorite sneakers including the Nike Air Penny V, Nike Barkleyposite, Nike Magista, and the Nike Free Run series. In short, these aren't just some no name designers that are jumping ship.

The trio will headline a new Adidas studio in Brooklyn, New York in 2015. With names like these to collaborate with guys like Pharrell, Nigo, and Kanye, the three stripes is certainly on the rise.

Per Adidas;

Adidas today announced a new creative studio coming to Brooklyn in New York in 2015 that will drive design direction for the brand and elevate the company’s direct interaction with consumers. The global studio will serve as a cultural contact point in the most influential city in the U.S., connecting the brand closely with sports and street culture.

The Brooklyn Creative Studio will be a small but essential operation aimed at exploring design direction for the brand. This facility will be an open source creative center allowing us to connect and collaborate with consumers in a way we’ve never done before,” said Paul Gaudio, adidas global creative director.

Three experienced, world class designers will join our team next year to lead the creative studio and manage a small team of cross-discipline creatives. Denis Dekovic has 20 years of footwear design experience across soccer, women’s, snowboarding, basketball and tennis; Marc Dolce is a 20-year veteran of the footwear design industry with experience across basketball, training, running, women’s and lifestyle; and, Mark Miner is a footwear designer with experience in running, women’s and basketball.

as long as Jordan doesn't leave, I think Nike'll be alright.

nah but seriously what the hell is going on at Nike that's making everyone leave? either way they'll still produce piff that people will want to buy.

Well, they are individuals. They can make their own decisions. I mean, who really cares who designs the shoes?
Adidas might be in a rut though. Creative new shoe designing is easier said than done. Look at the Li-Ning sneakers that Dwayne Wade is wearing. :snoop: They look like old Air Jordans plus poop.
Nike HyperDunks look good. I'm sure those who designed that are like "Laterz. Don't let the door hit you on the way out." :camby:

Their Biggest Designs Don't Seem Too Impressive, The BarkleyPosites And Pennys Were Big Disappointments

This. The Kobe, lebron and kd lines are still going strong plus a plethora of retros that they keep revamping ..they'll be fine.

The zoom rookies were hyped for a little bit, and people buy up the barkleys when they hit a sale price.

can't reme, ber the last pair of nikes I wore that wern't retro (ed) in some form or fashion...i think i'd have to go as far back as 2000 :dwillhuh:

This is why the news doesn't seem that big. Id say the General population isn't buying retros because their produced in lower numbers, but they keep the hype there to open the door for other lines.

I believe frees are up there as for as nikes top sellers.

uh ohss, they got sued.

...The lawsuit, filed in the county in Oregon where Adidas has its U.S. headquarters, alleges that some of its biggest designers, Denis Dekovic, Marc Dolce and Mark Miner, while still employees of Nike, began to build a blueprint to replicate Nike's famous Innovation Kitchen and stole secrets from inside its walls to take elsewhere. The Kitchen is where Nike's top designers build out shoes years in advance, testing new materials and concepts. Only a select few on Nike's sprawling campus have access to open its doors.

The lawsuit, which asks for more than $10 million in damages, alleges that before the three left Nike, they were already consulting with Adidas. To further sell themselves and capitalize on their position, Nike says Dekovic had the contents of his laptop duplicated, which gave him access to "thousands of proprietary documents relating to Nike's global football (soccer) product lines" where Adidas and Nike most fiercely battle....
