Alicia cant sing or dance. its a mismatch. putting bey and alica together would be like putting mayweather in the ring with prime roberto duran. that butterfly floating nikka would get tabled. It's still a fair comparison. While Beyonce is a greater singer and dancer, it doesn't necessarily translate into great music. At the beginning of Beyonce's solo career, she struggled to make complete albums. Alicia on the other hand, had nice string of albums initially, but the quality started to dip. Her latest is her worst where Beyonce's latter albums is some of her best.
I'll always stand by this: if I had to choose between a live show of Alica Keys and Beyonce, I'd choose Beyonce. If I had to pick between their catalogs, I'd pick Alicia.

thats fair. i like some alicia albums but i genuinely think she is a bad singer. or has gotten bad. she is kind of a shouter at this point. i like her first album, some of her second album. and some of her singles. i just think Beyonce is a rarer talent and sure, it has taken her longer to come into her own. as she said herself, she was always aware of having fans who followed her from Destinys Child so in many ways she stunted herself. But her newest album to me is better than anything Alicia has ever done. a song like No Angel is really transcendent. Even Drunk In Love, the second verse and the way she talks about sex, Alicia would have been really cliche. her lyrics are cliche. Beyonces are fun and silly which to me is part of great songwriting."if y scared call that reverend" is such a great lyric in regards to sex. But Alicia aint wack. but she isnt on Beyonces level imho. With Alicia I feel we dont need her since we have Erykah and Jill Scott etc. But Bey is kind of Singular. her lessers are like Ciara, Rihanna to a degree although she has her own lane.
I will agree Beyonce first album wasnt dope. It had one monster song Crazy In Love, and a kind of wannabe sensual vibe which worked sometimes and was clunky at others, But she is a good A Student. she works hard and has reached a point where it has all come together.
Swizz kills everything. Literally.
Mind you, "4" was one of Beyonce's worst performing albums, but compared to her first album, its one of her best in terms of quality and song selection.

And nikkas is trippin if they say she can't sing. That's just a blatant disregard of her talent right there. Her god given voice ain't as powerful or as beautiful as Whitney Houston's but she's still at worst a B vocalist.

Beyonce has only rejuvanated herself in her last two albums, but talent wise even though she can dance and has a better voice, she just doesn't have the ability to create songs like Alicia does.
Alicia wouldn't look out of place in any generation of black music, i still haven't heard a song from Beyonce as good as 'Diary', i think when it comes down to it, Alicia just has a better penchant for soulful black music, Beyonce still gives off a manafactured feel at times.

Variety doesn't equate to quality.
Shes got music for every lane, but she can't do the soulful music lane as well as Alicia.
Even her pop songs bar her second to last album 4, are sub par.
