Nas was wack because he was wack during that time,it wasn't just the singles....listen to his first four albums in order and you know Jay was right on Takeover....the fact everybody else saw it was what made Takeover so potent:banderas:....yll luv to rewrite history though.

Have you Nas stans ever made a thread thanking Jay?because you really should:sas1:.

nah, he was wrong considering IWW is better than any Jay-z album and I don't even have to bring up Illmatic and we know that I Am in it's original form was heat. Remember, like half of the Lost Tapes is I Am era tracks. Nastradamus was his only true ehh album during that run.

I told no lies:francis: I Am bootleg got 4.5 mics in the source and like half of the classic Lost tapes was I AM era leftovers:ehh:

Most know the story about the faith Nas 3rd LP suffered - after a 13-track advance of the album had been given out to magazines and such for review purposes it got leaked to the internet and quickly spread worldwide via programs like Napster. This was probably one of the first albums that got leaked through mp3 technology, and needless to say Nas and his manager Steve Stoute wasn't exactly pleased and decided to scrap the original project and add new songs. The original concept of an audiobiography documenting Nasir all the way from his moms belly to growing up in the streets without his father, to hustling and getting a record contract and eventually depression and finally his suicide: only to be reborn again as a prophet. A very ambitious project that could only be pulled off by an MC of Nas caliber, but due to the leak the retail album that hit the shelfs was something totally else. While it had traces off the genius that once had been in songs like "New York State Of Mind Part II", "Undying Love" and "Small World" the original theme was gone. The Source rated the original album with 4.5 mics but the official original tracklist has never surfaced in it's entiritey. It is however known which tracks was recorded for it (there have been talks about it being a double disc but i'm not sure that was ever confirmed) and after years of dwelling on this subject and trying various tracklists and track orders i came up with the one i like the best - take a listen to this and i promise you that you won't be dissapointed, it follows the storyline perfectly and the concept is fully intact. If this album would have been released like this there's no doubt in my mind that people would have hailed "I Am... The Autobiography" as a classic. Enjoy!

The I Am that came out was better than Vol 1, 2 and 3 by Jay

Nah I Am was truly wack too..and Jay didnt have a album as wack as I Am or Nastradamus until Kingdom Come....Vol 3 might be close, but not quite.

I domt even hate the idea of Nas "selling out" like some of these nikkas,it felt more natural/authentic than some of the pandering I think he started to do for his stans sake.

but the music was just wack breh...yall cant rewrite this,he went from the lead at Biggies passing,to being about 5th in line out of NY,because of the wackness:mjlol:.

Yall can act like Jay was next up and just lucky to be in line after Biggie died, but its not the case. Quite a few nikkas just leap frogged the shyt outta Nas.
I Am... is not wack in the same tier as those Volume albums it's better than Vol. 3 IMO. There's solid to classic tracks on there.

nas fans have no shame, saying I Am is better than vol 1-3,ive heard it all now:mjlol:...then you decided to bring up an album that we didnt actually recieve as proof that I Am was good in reality, even though that wasnt the reality:snoop:...most irrelevent defense of an album I ever heard mane:francis:

Yall ever heard of trajectory, people was saying Nas albumss were getting worse and worse with each release...glaringly actully.

nobody said that about Jays releases.

I'm looking at the reviews for I Am... them shyts are either better or on par with the Volume albums...

Nas is Like, Hate Me Now, NYSOM2, Undying Love, Favor for a Favor, Life Is What You Make It, Money Is My bytch, Small World are trash? That's most of the album right there...

Vol. 1 was an impartial album, still one of my favorite Hov albums because of the highs. Don't put those albums at a pedestal like I'm making some outrageous claim.

:what: what album that we didn't receive?

You can't tell me that Nashawn didn't write or assist with Nastradamus (the single). That flow is just way too familiar.

You thought that "Hero" shyt was Good?you owe me is horrible looking back like alot of things, but not horrible at the time....the album itself is what deservingly got the hate/indifference.

nah, even back in 99 as a youngin i thought it was wack. that beat was so trash to me always and the hook was cringe worthy terrible. Timbaland never gave Nas nice beats like he gave Jay. Hero was dope as fukk rapping verses and beat wise but the hook was wack, I'll give you that.
