It was intended for Busta Rhyme's debut album "The Coming", which would go on to be released in 1996, the beat was one of several Busta Rhymes' picked from J Dilla's beat selections for what would become "The Coming" album. "Still Shining" and "Keep It Movin" would later make the album. "The Ugliest" wouldn't, despite it been a strong song and all on form, It was left off the album because of the lyrical jabs seemingly aimed at 2pac, when he raps "Missed you by inches, you're talk is senseless/ Actor needs chiropractor for cracked jaw/ Yes, I rocked your chatterbox, dangerous you're not/ I get down, twist your body 'Round & Round', upside down...". , the other rapper on the song Labba, was a barely known artist with ties to Busta Rhymes and The Flipmode Squad, Notorious B.I.G denied it was aimed at Pac but the subliminal lines, do seem to be aimed at him.
With it not appearing on "The Coming" and with P Diddy owning the masters to the song, he held onto the song until 1999, when it appeared on the "Born Again" album under the name "Dangerous MC's", Diddy had alienated the original beat by Dilla and replaced it with a good but less superior beat from Nottz and a feature from Snoop Dogg, check out the song below, If only it appeared on "The Coming" album too.
